We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our organization’s safety and compliance team. This role is integral to promoting a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment across manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of occupational health standards, environmental regulations, and safety protocols. They will lead initiatives to minimize risks, ensure regulatory adherence, and foster a culture of safety excellence. We are an actively looking for an experienced Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability Specialist for a premier steel company in the Greater Grand Rapids area. This position will be responsible for two locations. Our West Michigan location in Grand Rapids and our Cincinnatti, Ohio facility. The position will be based in Grand Rapids and travel to Cincinnati as needed to keep both locations up to date on safety and compliance guidelines.

The primary responsibilities include:

· Assist plants in maintaining & updating EHS&S&s policies and procedures.

· Evaluation of EHS&S Hazards, Risks, and Impacts to the company and individual facilities.

· Develops, implements, and participates in the SMS programs.

· Develops and assists in conducting EHS&S training for the workforce.

· Assist in conducting ergonomic evaluations and training.

· Assist in providing hazard analysis required for Standardized Work Instructions and related forms.

· Assist in conducting EHS&S and SMS related audits and assessments, Risk Assessments, prepare reports, and conduct follow-up on actions.

· Coordinate Industrial Hygiene exposure assessments and follow up on results.

· Assist in integrating EHS&S requirements into procedures, work instructions, and controls.

· Promote and maintain safety awareness and a positive attitude towards incident prevention.

· Participate with Managers and Supervisors in incident investigation/prevention follow-up.

· Evaluate EHS&S statistics, and suggest actions for incident prevention.

· Monitoring implementation of corrective actions.

· Participate in ISO 14001 (or similar programs) internal audits.

· Understands and adheres to current health, safety, and environmental regulations and is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action regarding EHS&S concerns.

· Other duties as assigned.

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS&S) Specialist encompasses oversight and facilitation of the company's EHS&S protocols and frameworks. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

· Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required, preferably in Health, Safety, Environmental or related area. 3+ years of HSE experience in a manufacturing environment is required. Prior experience developing and delivering HSE related trainings to all levels within an organization.
