Our team remains laser-focused on one goal - making the world a safer place.Job Summary: A Fire Alarm Service Technician is responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance and repair of fire alarm systems in accordance with industry standards and regulations, with an emphasis on repair and maintenance. The Fire Alarm Technician plays a critical role in safeguarding lives and property by conducting thorough and detailed inspections, performing required maintenance & necessary repairs and providing expert advice to valued customers.Key Responsibilities:Conduct routine inspections and testing of fire alarm components, including control panels, detectors, horns, strobes and annunciators, to verify proper operationPrepare detailed reports documenting inspection findings, test results and any related deficiencies or non-compliance issues observed, in accordance with NFPA codes and standardsTroubleshoot system malfunctions and perform repairs as needed, identifying and resolving issues with wiring, circuitry, devices and softwareRespond promptly to service calls and emergency requests, diagnosing problems and implementing solutions to restore system functionalityConduct preventive maintenance activities, such as cleaning, calibration and battery replacement, to prolong the lifespan of fire alarm systems and prevent downtimeDocument all service activities accurately and thoroughly, including inspection reports, work orders, parts usage and customer notes, using the ServiceTrade operations platformWork closely with Deficiency Sellers to provide detailed inspection reports, material needs and other job-related notes, to prepare and deliver repair estimates in a timely manner, always ensuring customer satisfactionInteract professionally with clients to schedule work, discuss inspection findings, address any concerns or questions and provide recommendations for system upgrades or improvementsWork closely with Service Coordinator(s) to optimize work orders, material requisitions and job scheduling, focusing on efficiency, productivity and customer satisfactionMaintain a clean and organized work environment, always adhering to safety guidelines, protocols and proceduresWhat We Are Looking For:High School Diploma or equivalentTechnical or vocational training in fire alarm systems or related field preferredNICET Certifications strongly preferredState specific Fire Alarm licensing preferred, or ability to acquireValid driver's license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel to client sites as needed4+ years experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of fire alarm systems in commercial and industrial settingsSolid understanding of fire alarm codes, standards and regulations, including NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code) and relevant building and fire codesProficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics and technical manuals for fire alarm equipmentStrong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficientlyExcellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team membersAbility to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a fast-paced environmentPhysical Requirements:While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objectsAbility to lift and carry up to 50 poundsComfortable working in various environments, including industrial facilities, commercial buildings and outdoor settings, which can potentially expose employees to noise, dust, heat stress, thermal stress, low light conditions, heights, etc.Capable of standing, walking, bending and kneeling for extended periodsAbility to work at heights and in confined spaces as needed, which would require use of fall protection equipment and other safety devicesCapable of using hand and power tools, including specialty tools resulting in cutting, grinding, drilling, fastening and other methods resulting in torque, vibration, noise, etc.Hiller is a drug-free workplace, an equal opportunity employer and ADA compliant.We are proud to operate according to our Core Values: Passion to Perform, Trust to Act, Act Responsibly and Make It Fun.Most employee benefits start from the first day of employment, including:Competitive compensation package, including pay advancement opportunities for industry certifications and continuing educationComprehensive benefits package, including health, dental & vision insurance, retirement plans, company paid & voluntary life insurance, company paid short-term disability, voluntary long-term disability, critical illness & accident insurance and paid time offCompany-provided training, tools and equipment, including $150 annual boot allowance for employees required to wear safety boots in their jobsCareer advancement potential within a growing company.Join us in our mission to provide comprehensive fire protection solutions and peace of mind to our customers and together let's make the world a safer place.
