Medical Device Repair Technician

Diamond Knife TechnicianThe Diamond Knife Technician is responsible for the repair, restoration, manufacturing support, inspection, and quality evaluation of precision diamond knives used in ophthalmic and surgical applications for our Wilmington, DE Lab. This role requires exceptional manual dexterity, patience, attention to detail, and the ability to work under magnification while handling delicate and high-value components. The successful candidate will develop specialized technical skills through structured training and must demonstrate a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.You do not need to have previous experience working with medical devices; we will train you!Technicians have the ability to progress through technical levels as they learn, making this a great longterm career opportunity.What You Will Do as a TechnicianUtilize small hand tools (e.g., screwdrivers, pliers, tweezers) for assembly and repair tasksOperate microscopes and test equipment such as light sources and video processorsPerform hand soldering with precision and careRead and follow manuals, work instructions, job standards, and related documentationCommunicate effectively with team members and customers, both verbally and in writingMaintain a customer-oriented approach in all tasks and interactionsUse basic computer skills to input data, navigate systems, and complete documentationThe Experience, Skills, and Abilities NeededRequired:High school diploma or GED requiredMechanical/technical aptitude and hand-eye coordination are required.Must be able to work occasional overtime, sometimes outside normal business hours (i.e. on a Saturday), based on Customer and business needs2+ years of work experience is required, including at least 1 year of relevant experience*, or 1 year of experience at STERIS. All experience must be verifiable.*To be considered relevant, at least 1 year of work experience must involve some type of detailed, hands-on work with small or delicate components.
