Job Description
Join Our Team as a Surgical Instrument Specialist!

Job Description:


- Shift: Mid 5x8-Hour (15:00 - 23:30)
- Experience Required: Minimum 3 years; 1st Timers not accepted
- Patient Population:
- Busy SPD covering Main OR
- Services include:
- General
- GYN (minimal, usually only Robotic)
- Cardiovascular/Thoracic
- Open Hearts
- Laparoscopic
- Urology
- Ortho
- Ortho/Totals
- Neuro Spine and Crani
- Organ Procurement


- Certifications Preferred:
- CBSPD
- IAHCSMM/HSPA


- General Skills and Work Setting Requirements:
- Proficient with flexible cystoscopes, SPD sterilization equipment (Steris Steam Sterilizers and Stryker VP4 Machines)
- Experienced with SPD decontam equipment (Steris and Belimed Ultrasonic Washers, Steris Cart Washer, Steris Washer/Disinfectors)
- Ability to serve as a preceptor for potential peers and new employees
- Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)

- Performance Expectations:
- Maintain a bioburden error rate of 0.1% or less monthly
- Achieve an average tray volume of 20 per day (100 instruments per tray)


- Unit Systems:
- SPM System


- Scrub Color:
- Provided by the facility


- Weekend Requirements:
- Every other weekend (rotating)


- Call Requirements:
- Rare


- Holidays:
- Expected to work major holidays


- Onboarding Compliance:
- Full compliance required to start on time; pushback may occur if not compliant


- Candidate Review:
- Clinical screen will determine fit before final decision


- Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge in biological indicators, chemical indicators, cleaning equipment, high-level disinfection (HLD), and sterilization wrapping procedures.


- Special Equipment Experience Preferred:
- Organ Procurement Documentation Systems
- Flexible cystoscopes
- SPD sterilization and decontam equipment
