The organization supports a broad portfolio spanning Investment Banking, CRM & Client Intelligence, Research & Strategy, Corporate Banking, Credit & Lending, ESG, and shared data, AI and engineering capabilities.Operating at the intersection of technology, finance, strategy and business management, the Director acts as an extension of the CIB Technology leadership team, providing the structure, insight and follow-through needed to support informed decision-making, financial rigor and coordinated execution. This is a senior technology leadership role — the strategic right hand to the Head of CIB & Research Technology.Supported Business and Technology PortfolioThe Director supports strategic planning, operational management and coordinated execution across the portfolio, operating across distinct product groups and business priorities while creating a single, consistent organizational view for the Head of CIB & Research Technology:· Investment Banking Technology — supporting advisory, capital markets and deal execution capabilities.· Research & Strategy Technology — supporting the creation, management and distribution of research and market insights.· Corporate Banking Technology — supporting relationship management, lending and associated banker workflows.· ESG Technology — supporting environmental, social and governance-related products, data and capabilities.· Client Technology — including client experience & client intelligence, digital channels and cross-product client capabilities.· Data, Artificial Intelligence and Analytics — including client intelligence, automation and shared data platform initiatives.· Shared Engineering and Platform Capabilities — enabling consistent, secure and scalable delivery across CIB Technology.Role DescriptionThe Director leads the day-to-day business management and operating agenda for CIB Technology, with particular accountability for technology strategy, financial and investment management, workforce and location strategy, vendor governance, technology operational risk and leadership effectiveness. The role partners closely with the Head of CIB Technology and leadership team while managing the Business Management function supporting the organization.Key AccountabilitiesBusiness Operations and Executive Leadership Support· Partner with the leadership team to establish and maintain an effective operating rhythm — leadership forums, quarterly business reviews and strategic planning sessions.· Coordinate executive priorities, decisions and actions, ensuring clear ownership, timely follow-through and visibility of key outcomes.· Develop executive scorecards, management information and briefing materials that provide clear insight into organizational performance, priorities, risks and decisions required.· Continuously improve the CIB Technology operating model, management processes and organizational effectiveness.· Act as a trusted advisor and connector across Technology, business, Finance, Human Resources, Risk and other partner functions.Financial and Investment Management· Own the annual budget planning process, quarterly forecasting, monthly actuals review and variance analysis for CIB Technology.· Provide transparent financial reporting and decision support, including cost transparency across infrastructure, cloud, labor and vendor spend.· Partner with Finance and technology leaders to align investment, workforce and vendor spending to agreed priorities.· Lead software and technology investment governance to ensure spend is non-duplicative, cost-effective and aligned to long-term business needs.· Identify financial pressures and opportunities early, recommend actions, and maintain effective controls and governance across planning, approvals and reporting.Workforce, Location and Organizational Strategy· Lead workforce planning across permanent employees, contractors and strategic partners, including location strategy and resource mix.· Design and optimize the delivery footprint across locations to balance cost, capability, resilience and client delivery.· Oversee hiring approvals, open requisition tracking, headcount reporting and workforce forecasts.· Support organizational design, succession planning, talent reviews, promotion processes and early-talent programs in partnership with Human Resources and leadership.· Maintain accurate organization structures and provide management insight on workforce trends, capability needs and capacity.Vendor and Commercial Management· Lead governance of strategic vendors and consulting partners — contract management, spend oversight, resource utilization, commercial performance and renewals.· Partner with Procurement, Finance, Legal and technology leaders to manage commercial arrangements and ensure value for money.· Challenge vendor demand, utilization and delivery models, identifying opportunities to optimize cost, capability and outcomes.· Maintain forward-looking views of vendor capacity, commitments, renewals and commercial risk.Technology Operational Risk (TOR) Leadership· Risk governance, reporting and remediation: lead the consolidated view of technology operational risk across CIB Technology — risk posture, key risk indicators, control exceptions, audit findings, remediation plans, dependencies and executive escalations.· Technology asset and control governance: oversee consistent application ownership, Technology Asset Owner accountabilities, attestations, technology standards, software currency, resilience, vulnerability management and control compliance.· Third-party and vendor risk: coordinate technology-risk oversight for vendors and strategic partners — risk intake, assessments, control remediation, performance monitoring and escalation of emerging risks.· Data and process optimization: drive adoption and continuous improvement of centralized TOR tooling and workflows, including integration across OREO, Archer, Jira and ServiceNow, to improve data quality, evidence management, transparency, automation and audit readiness.Strategic Planning and Execution· Partner with CIB & Research Technology leaders to shape the annual strategy and translate priorities into clear plans, measures and accountability.· Coordinate strategic initiatives spanning multiple product groups, supporting cross-functional follow-through where priorities intersect.· Support executive offsites, organization redesign activities and leadership planning sessions.· Provide concise visibility of progress, dependencies, risks and decisions across major technology, data, AI, client intelligence and platform modernization priorities.· Participate in relevant risk, regulatory and control discussions, coordinating organizational input and follow-through without replacing accountable risk or delivery owners.Executive Communications and Engagement· Draft and coordinate communications on behalf of the Head of CIB & Research Technology and leadership team.· Lead the development of town halls, all-hands presentations, leadership updates, executive briefings and organizational announcements.· Translate complex technology, financial and organizational information into clear, concise, outcome-focused narratives for senior audiences.· Ensure communications are coordinated, consistent and aligned to the CIB Technology strategy and priorities.Candidate RequirementsTo thrive in this role, the successful candidate should possess the following qualifications and experience:· Significant experience in a senior Business Management, Chief of Staff, Financial Planning & Analysis, Product, Strategy or complex Program Management capacity within a global technology or financial services organization.· Demonstrated experience supporting senior executives and leadership teams within a large, matrixed organization.· Strong financial and commercial acumen, with hands-on ownership of budgeting, forecasting, variance management, cost transparency, workforce planning and vendor spend.· Track record of location / delivery-footprint strategy and workforce optimization that improved cost and capability without disrupting delivery.· Sound understanding of technology delivery, engineering, product development and the operating needs of a global technology organization.· Experience with technology operational risk, control governance and risk / finance tooling (e.g., Archer, ServiceNow, Jira or equivalents).· Proven ability to manage strategic vendors, contracts, renewals and commercial relationships.· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear executive-level presentations, briefings and recommendations.· Strong executive presence, judgement and influencing skills, with the confidence to constructively challenge and drive alignment across senior stakeholders.· Ability to synthesize complex information, establish structure in ambiguous situations and translate strategic priorities into coordinated execution.· Experience leading and developing a Business Management team or comparable multidisciplinary function.· Financial Services, Capital Markets, Investment Banking or Corporate Banking experience is an asset.Key Success Measures·
