As an Assistant Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the successful execution of construction projects from inception to completion. You will collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, and cross‑functional teams, contributing to project planning, monitoring, and coordination. Your attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks will aid in delivering projects on time, within scope, and in compliance with quality and safety standards. Location: San Antonio Essential Duties & Responsibilities Stakeholder Communication: Provide updates, address inquiries, and maintain stakeholder satisfaction. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the construction team, following directions and contributing to a positive and productive work environment. Contractor Relations: Maintain communication with vendors, suppliers, manufacturers, and contractors to coordinate orders and deliveries. Project Planning: Assist the Project Manager(s) in managing, coordinating, and administering the project through all phases of design, construction, and post‑construction. Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and various teams to ensure smooth project execution and adherence to timelines. Progress Monitoring: Track project milestones, deliverables, and tasks to identify deviations from the project plan. Team Meetings: Actively participate in or lead Owner/Architect/Construction Management Agent meetings, coordination, trade contractor, scheduling, and other related meetings. Meeting Coordination: Schedule meetings with the project team as directed by the Project Manager(s). Quality Assurance: Monitor project quality and ensure compliance with industry standards and stakeholder specifications. Issue Resolution: Address project‑related issues and challenges promptly, seeking guidance from the Project Manager and/or Superintendent as needed, and keep all parties informed. Adaptability: Adapt to changing project needs, handle unexpected challenges, and adjust project plans accordingly. Documentation: Assist in the preparation, expediting, and monitoring of documents (reports, schedules, invoices, ASIs, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes/agendas, daily reports, change orders, punch lists, inspections, closeout, and stakeholder presentations). Report Generation: Prepare project status reports, updates, and presentations for project managers and stakeholders. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to optimize the procurement process, reduce lead times, and enhance overall efficiency. Other duties as assigned. Attendance at work during normal business hours. Knowledge & Skills Required Knowledge Construction Processes: Familiarity with construction project lifecycles, phases, and activities from planning to completion. Project Management Principles: Understanding of basic project management concepts, methodologies, and best practices. Project Coordination: Understanding of coordinating project tasks, teams, and resources to achieve project objectives. Blueprint Reading: Knowledge of reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings, plans, and specifications. Safety Procedures: Understanding of safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), hazard identification, and adherence to safety guidelines. Construction Safety: Understanding of potential construction site hazards, including electrical, fall, and equipment‑related risks. Collaboration: Strong team collaboration skills to work effectively with cross‑functional teams, contractors, and stakeholders. Project Documentation: Knowledge of maintaining accurate project documentation, contracts, drawings, schedules, and change orders. Project Management Software: Familiarity with project management software and tools for scheduling, task management, and communication. Skills Leadership: Developing leadership skills to assist in coordinating project teams, managing tasks, and facilitating communication. Problem‑Solving: Skill in identifying challenges, finding solutions, and making informed decisions to keep projects on track. Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage project documentation, deadlines, tasks, and priorities effectively. Time Management: Ability to manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely completion of project‑related activities. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to accurately maintain project records, monitor progress, and review documents. Analytical Skills: Basic analytical skills to analyze project data, identify trends, and inform decision making. Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, and Project Management Software. Communication: Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey safety instructions and report incidents effectively. Confidentiality: Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality. Preferred Education and Experience Education: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, a related field, or equivalent field experience. Experience: Some experience in the construction industry or related fields, demonstrating a grasp of project management principles.
