Under the supervision of a licensed nurse (RN, LPN, or shift manager), the Assistant Patient Care Technician provides direct patient care with compassion and attention to safety.

Adheres to established safety protocols including infection prevention and safe patient handling. Performs basic patient care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility. Works closely with nursing staff to meet patient needs promptly, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment. Accurately documents all care activities to support clinical decisions and communicates relevant patient information to the healthcare team to enhance outcomes.

High school diploma or GED preferred.

One year of experience and certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.

If uncertified or with less than one year of experience, attendance at a PCA training academy is required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, bending, and other movements necessary for patient care.

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
