This dynamic position offers a unique opportunity for professional growth and development, preparing you for advancement to the Service Center Manager role. The Assistant Service Center Manager works with the Service Center Manager to oversee daily operations of the service center, support management of staff, ensure efficient and timely freight movement, maintain safety standards, and optimize terminal processes to meet customer expectations and company goals. Essential Job Duties Assist with planning, implementing, and overseeing the work of staff members to ensure efficiency and compliance with organizational requirements and procedures. Monitor and direct all dispatching activities, including tracking, routing, and dispatching transportation vehicles. Assist in directing work activities designed to promote work safety and encourage continuing education among staff members. Implement changes to transportation services, policies, or scheduling as needed. Ensure staff members fully and consistently comply with safety rules, administrative procedures, policies and government regulations. Collaborate with staff and fellow managers to create, modify, and implement goals, procedures, policies and objectives when opportunities arise. Build and maintain a culture for proactive safety, productive, efficient, low‑attrition workforce. Coach team members to develop talent and depth to enable growth and effective operation. Produce high levels of service, including on‑time pickup and delivery and a claims‑free environment. Produce high levels of productivity and optimal levels of labor spend. Collaborate with the Sales team to identify opportunities for growth and work with all stakeholders to integrate new opportunities into the network. Manage customer concerns and, in agreement with the customer and company, inform other company personnel of the resolution. Coordinate with Fleet and external services to maintain and repair company vehicles, maintain and submit required vehicle records, review equipment allocation by route and line‑haul, and plan as needed. Assist in controlling expenses and operate within budget. Approve and process external invoices according to company procedure. Minimum Requirements Minimum of two years of experience in LTL Operations or comparable leadership roles. Strong leadership and team‑building skills. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication (written and verbal), analytical and decision‑making skills. Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry.
