The Leukemia Center at UT MD Anderson is one of the world's most-recognized treatment centers for leukemia and blood disorders. Research by MD Anderson doctors has pioneered new standards of care for all types of leukemia. Our active research program allows us to offer more than 100 clinical trials of the newest targeted therapies, vaccines, immunotherapies, and "mini" stem cell transplants, many only available at MD Anderson.
The Leukemia Center has internationally known doctors who have dedicated their careers to advancing global knowledge about staging and treating rare myeloproliferative disorders and myelodysplastic syndromes.
The Leukemia Center has an Assistant Nurse Manager opportunity. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in nursing and at least three years of clinical nursing experience. Prefer candidates with at least one year of supervisory, leadership, or charge nurse experience. Candidates with oncology and/or leukemia experience are a plus.
Shift: Monday – Friday day shift
Salary: $111,000 minimum - $139,000 midpoint - $167,000 maximum

The primary purpose of the Assistant Nurse Manager position is to assist in overall operations and the coordination of patient care services.
Key Responsibilities
Utilizes clinical expertise to monitor and correlate acuity and patient profiles to area staffing needs, assignments and budget. Plans and evaluates area compliance with institutional/regulatory policies and procedures. Formulates practical recommendations regarding daily operational procedures and practices. Provides management assistance through the assurance of appropriate staffing, performance improvement activities, compliance with budgetary guidelines and human resources processes. Ensure scheduling and assignment/reassignment of staff meet the needs of the patient. Participates in hiring and performance management of employees. Contributes to the strategic and financial planning of the area. Supports a high level of clinical competence and professional development for staff. Provides direct patient care approximately 50% of the time.
Education: Required: Bachelor's degree in nursing. Preferred: Master's degree in nursing or related field
Experience: Required: Three years of clinical nursing experience. Successful completion of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center New Graduate Nurse Residency Program can be substituted for two of the three required years of clinical nursing experience. Preferred: One year of supervisory, leadership, or charge nurse experience.
Licensure/Certification: Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Preferred: OCN - Oncology Nurse Certification, Certification in Oncology or specialty practice area, ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification as required by patient care area.
Other Requirements: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
