Machine Programmer II

Varstaff is looking for a Machine Programmer II Job Description As part of a hardworking team of specialists, you will develop and modify NC programs for CNC mills, lathes, and multi-axis machines supporting various spaceflight systems. You will create accurate programming and setup sheets to enable first-article success on tight-tolerance, high-value parts, while contributing to process improvements and safe human spaceflight operations. Key Responsibilities
- Create NC programs for CNC mills, lathes, multi-axis machines, and VTLs to meet engineering requirements.
- Develop machining strategies to translate design data into machined hardware.
- Develop and manage detailed setup sheets.
- Collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and machinists.
- Design custom tooling and fixtures as needed.
- Provide DFM/DFMA feedback and drive process improvements in machining and workflows.
- Conduct product acceptance and maintain configuration control on files and job records.
- Proficiency with Siemens NX / Unigraphics and Vericut (or equivalent verification software).
- 4+ years of NC programming experience.
- Strong blueprint reading skills, including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994.
- Experience with tool/fixture design, cutter selection, and custom cutter design.
- Proficiency in calculating feeds and speeds.
- Experience machining Inconel, stainless steel, and aluminum alloys.
- Familiarity with DFMA principles and standard precision hand tools.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawful refugee/asylee.
- Experience with Mastercam 2017 or higher.
- Practical hands-on machinist experience.
