CPP Specialist Full Time Service Worker Grand Rapids, MI, US 5 days ago Requisition ID: 4296 C AREER P REPARATION P ERIOD S PECIALIST FLSA: Exempt The Career Preparation Period Specialist position provides instructional support for a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor, Human Learning Systems. The Job Corps program is a federally funded residential training program. Job Corps’ mission is to educate and train youth ages 16 -24 for successful careers in the nation’s fastest-growing industries . Summary of Duties: The Career Preparation Period Specialist provides instructionduring theCareerPreparationPhase ofenrollment.Assists students in becoming acclimated to the Job Corps Program and the Center. Works with the team members to assist students in gaining employability skills. Puts into place all systems necessary to meet any special needs a student might have. Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport. Records daily attendance in the Center Information System (CIS). Coordinates enrollment requirements in conjunction with the Career Counselor to meet Department of Labor (DOL) requirement of CPP. DescriptionofDuties: Develops effective student educational experiences that engage and stimulatestudent learning. Adequately prepares for instruction. Integrates math, reading, and writingconcepts with employability, and Career Success Standards skills with lessonplanning. Develops and implements curriculum and training outlines necessary to attainstudent, CenterandDOLgoals. UtilizesJobCorpsguidelinesandsubjectcourseguides. Hasanaccuratesyllabusfor thecourseandcompleteslessonplansasrequired? Createsandmaintainstrainingrecordsforeachsubjectarea. Conductsclassesthatexplaintestpreparationandstudyskills. Conducts assessments to determine areas of strength and difficulty, using thisinformation toprescribes individualplans. Identifiesappropriatematerials. Designsinstructiontomeetindividualstudentneeds. DevelopsandimplementsCareer Success Standardprojects. Meets with academic and career technical training instructors to identify requiredskills that can be taught and reinforced with applying technical skills in anacademicsettingand intechnical instruction. Developsandimplementsappliedacademicprojects. Identifies students personal and academic issues so that the appropriate supportcan beprovided. Administersanaccommodationsassessment. Determines career development readiness and determines barriers to careertransition anddocumentstheseas appropriate. SubmitsESPsinatimelymanner,documentsstudentprogress. Recordsdailyattendance. Administersaccuratecompletionofthetrainingrecordsandcourseguides. Documents each progress in case notes. Maintains curriculum necessary toattain goals. Prepareslessonplansatleasttwo weeksinadvance. Submitsnecessaryschedulechangeinformation. Documents and distributes CPAR in the CPP/MYPACE phase of the program as necessary. Ensures and documents contact with parents ofminors asnecessary into the CIS System as a case note in the RAP format. Engageinjobsearchandpreparation(resumewriting,emailinginquiries,etc). Prepares/maintainsaccuraterecords both electronically and manually. Helpsstudentsunderstandprogramobjectivesandperformancestandards. Helps students identify and make use of supplemental instructional/mediaresources. Encouragesself-reliance,problem-solving,critical-thinking,creativity,andperformance skills. Collaborates with other staff to gather information to ensure that all student’s needs, concerns, challenges, and career plans are met. Sharesknowledgeandresourcesbeneficial to theenhancement of studentlearning. Evaluatesstudentperformance in a timely manner as outlined in the (SOP) Standard Operation Procedure. Consultswithcounselingstaffasneeded(e.g.,phonecalls,E-mail,writtennotes,meetings,etc.). Inspectsclassroom equipmenttoensurethatitisreadywhenneeded. Performspreventivemaintenanceand safety checks, providesroutinecleaningofequipment, classroom, and all spaces according to the Covid-19 guidelines. Increasecriticalthinking,analysis,andproblem-solvingskillsofstudents. Provideguidanceandstructureforself-directedandlife-longlearning. Motivatestudentstoactivelyparticipateandengageinlearning. Beabletoimpartreal-worldscenariostotheapplicationofclassroomcontentand objectives. Produceandinstructhigh-quality,well-preparedclasseswherelearningispromoted students enjoythelearningprocess. Career Management Team (CMT): Members contribute to the success of students by actively participating in the CMT process. The CMT is responsible for students’ successful matriculation through the Job Corps program, beginning in Career Preparation Phase (CPP) and continuing throughout Career Transition Phase (CTP). In the Career Development Phase (CDP) the CMT supports students as they earn, TABE gains, HSE/HSD, certifications, and trade completions. When students move to CTP and separate from the program, the CMT supports graduates in placement within 12 months. Former enrollees receive placement services within 3 months. Both have 15 months for the Q2/Q4 post placement survey. CMT is responsible to ensure that the following areas are supported within each CMT: OMS Report Card, CTT OMS, Projected Separations, High School Equivalency, CTT completion, CTT Industry Credential, Literacy and Numeracy TABE, Evaluation of Student Progress, MyPACE, PAR, WBL, Career Transitions Readiness, CSS, Employability Skills, Contextual Learning, Career Transitions/Career. Workplace Standards: Maintainsrequiredcertificationsand/orlicensesincludingavaliddriver’s license and insurance when required by position. Does not engage in activities otherthan official business during working hours. Reports significant/major incidents or accidents.Cooperates in external/internal investigations as requested. Completes PRH, Corporate andCenter training as required and demonstrates competencies accordingly. Complies with DOL,Corporate andCenterguidelines.
