WHO WE WANT TO HIRE

A paralegal: an effective case manager who is in charge of moving documents through the discovery stage for every client file that has been assigned, assisting lawyers in creating defense plans, and keeping careful, well-organized oversight and working knowledge of each case. The ideal applicant will be able to work both alone and as part of a team. This role is ideal for someone who is excellent at multitasking across several files, handling detailed duties, and setting priorities. There will be training and ongoing mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Manage the development and discovery process from beginning to end in assigned workers’ compensation files.
\n
• Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Arizona Workers’ Compensation Act and relevant administrative procedures.
\n
• Draft and serve various pleadings to administrative offices and courts.
\n
• Draft, process, and file/send correspondence, various legal documents/forms, and settlement documents.
\n
• Create IME/DIME packets for filing with administrative offices.
\n
• Coordinate with various third-party professionals in acquiring additional discovery such as investigative reports, video surveillance, vocational assessments, and others, as required.
\n
• Schedule hearings, prehearings, depositions, expert conferences, and settlement conferences.
\n
• Schedule medical appointments and coordinate travel itineraries when necessary.
\n
• Professionally communicate with clients, adjusters, lawyers, physicians, courts, and outside vendors. Prepare the case for hearing in coordination with the attorney, to include the creation of exhibit packets.
\n
• Regularly review, process and exchange incoming discoveries in compliance with time sensitive deadlines.
\n
• Contemporaneously capture billable time to meet or exceed annual requirement while adhering to all individual client protocols and procedures.

Qualifications

\n
• High school diploma / GED required.
\n
• Paralegal certification preferred.
\n
• 3+ years of litigation support experience, workers’ compensation preferred.
\n
