This position is part of the behavioral health clinical team. This position is responsible for the provision of psychiatric care to adult patients. This position serves as the supervising physician for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN) providing behavioral health services. This position participates in quality improvement initiatives as assigned by the CMO.
Essential duties include:
- Providing a positive impression to patients, visitors, and employees.
- Providing outpatient mental health services for adult patients including evaluating, testing, diagnosis, and treatment of identified conditions.
- Managing acute and chronic mental illness through coordinated care plans.
- Making appropriate referrals to internal and external resources for additional services.
- Prescribing medications for treatment of conditions.
- Providing clinical consultation to other providers within CHC/SEK.
- Overseeing mid-level providers responsible for providing mental health services.
- Ensuring accurate, timely, and clear medical record documentation.
- Providing clear written and oral communication to patients/guardians and employees.
- Weighing the relative costs and benefits of a potential action.
- Ensuring that the medical/clinical policies related to the mental health services of CHC/SEK are current and accurate.
Qualifications include:
- Full licensure to practice medicine in the State of Kansas.
- Graduation from an accredited school of medicine.
- Completion of residency in Psychiatry.
- Board Certified in Psychiatry.
- Commitment to serving the underserved.
