This individual will oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, drive operational excellence, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead strategic growth initiatives across the laboratory environment.This is a senior leadership opportunity for a proven laboratory operations professional with strong microbiology expertise, multi-site operational leadership experience, and a track record of developing high-performing teams.Position OverviewThe Director of Laboratory Operations is responsible for the technical, scientific, operational, and administrative oversight of the clinical laboratory. This role partners closely with executive leadership and the Medical Director to ensure laboratory services are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and with the highest standards of quality and patient care.Key ResponsibilitiesOperational LeadershipLead daily operations of a high-volume clinical laboratory environmentManage operational budgets, productivity metrics, and cost-saving initiativesUtilize operational data and analytics to drive business decisions and resource allocationStandardize policies, procedures, and workflows across laboratory operationsEnsure all laboratory operations remain compliant with CAP, federal, state, and local regulatory requirementsSupport long-term strategic planning, service line expansion, and operational growth initiativesOversee technical and platform transitions across laboratory environmentsTeam Leadership & DevelopmentLead, mentor, and develop laboratory leadership teams and emerging talentEstablish performance standards and drive accountability through collaboration and influenceFoster strong team engagement, communication, and a culture of belongingBuild organizational bench strength and support succession planning initiativesDrive continuous improvement in operational execution and service deliveryQuality & ComplianceEnsure laboratory quality assurance and quality control programs are properly maintainedOversee laboratory training, competency assessment, and performance managementEnsure accurate testing, documentation, and reporting practicesMaintain readiness for CAP inspections and regulatory auditsCustomer & Stakeholder ManagementBuild strong relationships with internal and external stakeholdersResolve operational issues and customer concerns in a timely and professional mannerPartner cross-functionally with clinical, operational, and executive teamsQualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related scientific fieldMedical Technologist registry required (ASCP, AMT, AAB, or equivalent)Minimum 10 years of recent laboratory leadership experience, including significant microbiology experienceDemonstrated success leading large teams in high-volume laboratory environmentsStrong experience overseeing laboratory operations within CAP, federal, and state regulatory standardsProven leadership experience managing operational change and technical/platform transitionsStrong communication, team-building, and leadership development skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)PreferredFlorida Supervisor License in Microbiology or Generalist designationCandidates relocating to Florida must be eligible and willing to obtain licensureMaster's degree in Business Administration or related scientific disciplineMulti-site laboratory leadership experienceWhat's OfferedComprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage401(k) with company matchGenerous paid time off and PTO cash-out optionsLeadership development and career advancement programsEmployee wellness and family support resourcesCollaborative, mission-driven culture focused on clinical excellence and professional growth
