This position is located in the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). This mission of OCIO is to enable delivery of HUD programs, services, and management processes by providing high-quality information technology (IT) solutions and services. The strategic goals of OCIO are to: rapidly modernize HUD's information technology to support key business initiatives; transform the information technology infrastructure to adapt to and adopt emerging technologies; develop a cadre of highly capable IT professionals with mission critical competencies needed to meet the Department's goals; and provide secure, rapid, and reliable data and information to our customers. As an IT Specialist (SYSANALYSIS) , you will:
- Assist in the design of cloud architectures that can scale horizontally and vertically to meet varying workloads and future growth and participate in the effort to build redundant systems to ensure high availability and disaster recovery, minimizing single points of failure following cloud provider best practices and architectural frameworks, such as the AWS Well-Architected Framework or Azure's Well-Architected Review.
- Identify needs and conduct in-depth technical research both in industry and in the public sector and draft polices as they relate to new and existing products, platforms or services aligning them to Federal governance and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with team members to set clear, measurable goals aligned with the Branch Chiefs objectives and priorities
- Oversee the configuration and maintenance of hosting and platform infrastructure components, including servers, storage, and networking.
- Serve as a key point of contact and coordinator during disaster events, leading response, and recovery efforts to minimize service disruptions and data loss. Activate and execute disaster recovery plans in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including application teams, project managers, other OICIO teams, management, and external vendors if necessary.
- Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
- A probationary or trial period may be required. Continued employment is contingent upon supervisory certification that continued employment will benefit the Federal Service; the certification will occur no less than 30 days before the end of the probationary/trial period.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
- Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.

- Managing enterprise, cloud or data center systems (e.g. Azure, AWS, or ServiceNow); AND
- Communicating with internal and external stakeholders orally and in writing; AND
- Managing an Information Technology team responsible for developing, planning, and implementing modern technology; AND
- Analyzing program materials and offering recommendations for improving the delivery of program information to affected individuals and/or groups.
