Growing together.The Patient Access Representative welcomes, greets, interviews patients and/or representatives in person or over the telephone to ensure their initial experience with the hospital is exceptional. The Patient Access Representative will also obtain the required demographic and insurance information to ensure proper billing/reimbursement to the hospital. Secure requires signatures from patients and/or representatives to protect hospital's interests. Provides excellent patient experience for guests with a high level of professionalism.This position is per diem. Employees are required to work our normal business hours with the potential to cover all shifts within a 24-hour day as needed. It may be necessary, given business need, to work occasionally overtime or weekends.Our office is located at Fox Hospital, 1 Norton Ave, Oneonta, NY 13820.We offer 4-6 weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of the training will be based on schedule or will be discussed on your first day of employment.Primary Responsibilities:Communicates directly with patients and/or families either in person or on the phone to complete the registration process by collecting patient demographics, health information, and verifying insurance eligibility / benefitsUtilizes computer systems to enter access or verify patient data in real - time ensuring accuracy and completeness of informationGathers necessary clinical information and processes referrals, pre-certification, pre-determination, and pre-authorizes according to insurance plan requirementsVerifies insurance coverage, benefits, and creates price estimates, reverifications as neededCollects patient co-pays as appropriate and conducts conversations with patients on their out-of-pocket financial obligationsIdentifies outstanding balances from patient's previous visits and attempts to collect any amount dueResponsible for collecting data directly from patients and referring to provider offices to confirm and create scheduled appointments for patient services prior to hospital dischargeResponds to patient and caregivers' inquiries related to routine and sensitive topics always in a compassionate and respectful mannerGenerates, reviews, and analyzes patient data reports and follows up on issues and inconsistencies as necessaryMaintains up-to-date knowledge of specific registration requirements for all areas, including but not limited to: Main Admitting, OP Registration, ED Registration, Maternity, and Rehabilitation unitsYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear directions on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:High School Diploma/GED1+ years of customer service experienceAbility to work per-diem hours (generally 8-16 hours per week) with the potential to cover all shifts within a 24-hour day. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasionally overtime or weekendsMust be 18 years of age OR olderAccess to reliable transportation & valid US driver's licensePreferred Qualifications:1+ years of experience in scheduling and authorizationsHealthcare experience and clinical knowledgeAbility to work night and weekend hoursSoft Skills:Ability to engage and effectively communicate with individuals and groups of adults at all levels within the organizationAbility to build rapport quickly, develop trust, sustain working relationships, and represent CRH positively in internal and external meetingsStrong time-management and organizational skillsEffective communication skills and interpersonal skillsBasic keyboarding skillsStrong interpersonal, communication and customer service skillsPhysical and Work Environment:Standing for long periods of time (10 hours) while using a workstation on wheels and phone/headset**PLEASE NOTE** The sign-on bonus is only available to external candidates. The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $29.00 per hour based on full-time employment.
