Associate Financial Advisor

Carmel Capital Partners is a San Diego-based RIA serving its families with both financial planning and investment management solutions. Today, the firm manages $650MM on behalf of HNW families and is looking to add an Associate Advisor to the team. We are seeking an individual to work in a supportive role to the firm’s senior principal. The role requires extremely strong organizational skills, knowledge of financial planning, and a broad understanding of industry financial and investment solutions. We are a small team, and this position is best suited for someone who can wear a few hats on any given day. If you enjoy working with clients on financial planning and investment needs in a team-based environment, this is an excellent opportunity to further develop those skills. Above all else, this position requires a person with strong verbal and written communication skills. Job Description / Responsibilities Work closely with the Senior Principal on serving clients with both their investment and financial planning. Interact with external partners and providers to deliver sophisticated financial planning, tax planning, and investment solutions. Prepare financial plans, portfolio reviews, and client material. Assist clients looking to understand their portfolio and answer their questions clearly. Deliver careful, detailed work that keeps the firm’s client relationships strong. Understand how to utilize the firm’s planning and investment solutions and integrate them into a client’s plan. A strong working knowledge of common industry investments and solutions. Ability to stay current on the financial markets and industry financial planning strategies. Daily and weekly interaction with clients on a broad range of topics. Personal Characteristics Must be able to complete work in a timely and effective manner and manage multiple deadlines. Clear, precise writer and communicator. Self-starter with the ability to think and work independently once assigned a project or task. Eager to work in an intellectually stimulating environment and engage in debate and discussion about investments and planning. Ability to keep the company’s broader goals and objectives in mind while attending to the details of daily assignments. Ability to multitask and work on several projects simultaneously. Have an entrepreneurial mindset and be willing to contribute to numerous areas of business. Qualifications 2+ years of experience in the investment or financial service industry. CFP preferred. Series 65 (or Series 66) required or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. Strong MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint skills. Familiarity with planning software, tools, and strategies. Prior experience at an RIA or wealth management firm or group. Must be local to the San Diego area. This is a full-time, in-office position (5 days per week). Compensation In addition to an annual base salary, the candidate will be eligible to receive a discretionary annual bonus. The firm provides benefits, including medical and 401(k).
