Grocery Clerk

Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to ensure they get what they want and need. Check product quality to ensure freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate action. Provide customers with ordered fresh and non-perishable grocery products. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise. Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager. Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines. Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keep temperature logs. Gain knowledge of products sold within the department to respond to questions and make suggestions. Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions and providing assistance. Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions. Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs needed. Notify management of customer or employee accidents. Work cooperatively in high-paced and stressful environments. Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information. Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues. Support and assist customers, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
