The Estimating function supports Pase Operations and Business Development teams in the development of proposals and estimates, producing estimates for all self-performed and subcontracted work, producing estimates for all scopes of work related to BMP installation & maintenance. This includes managing all aspects of developing cost estimates for heavy civil projects, for private and public sector work, against architectural and engineering drawings and specifications. The Estimator reports to the CWES Group Estimating Manager and works day to day in support of Pase Environmental in Colorado. From time to time, the Estimator may be asked to support estimating across the other CWES BMP operations outside Colorado. This is more than a take-off and pricing role. In line with how the CWES Group estimating function is developing, the Estimator is expected to own the outcome of the bids they work on, follow up on submitted proposals as a matter of discipline, and stay connected to customers through the full bid cycle. The role is evolving alongside the Group function, and the responsibilities below will continue to grow toward a more commercially accountable, customer-facing standard. Essential Duties and Areas of Accountability Estimating and take-offs Perform accurate take-offs, materials, and subcontractor work Create detailed cost estimates arranged to follow the pricing format required by the customer. Research pricing for estimates based on historical and regional costs Provide high-level scoping of the project to create the estimate summary and outsourcing control worksheets Evaluate projects to identify value-engineered cost saving opportunities Accurately utilize project plans and specifications to identify scopes of work in terms of labor requirements, schedules, materials, and subcontracting opportunities Develop and/or manage the development of a preliminary bid schedule using applicable software Winning work at the right margins Take ownership of the outcome of the bids you work; the estimating function exists to win work, and you are accountable for the result Understand the revenue and gross margin targets set for Pase and ensure bids are priced to achieve them; accuracy and competitiveness are both your responsibility Follow up on all submitted bids and proposals as a matter of discipline: understand where we won and why, where we lost and why, and use that intelligence to sharpen how we price and position Track win rates, margin performance, and estimate-to-actual variance on your bids, and bring that data to bear on future bid strategy Connecting customers and operations Know your customers, understand their priorities, and be a capable, responsive commercial partner through the full bid cycle Visit project work sites, participate in pre-proposal and pre-bid meetings, clarify scope of work, and prepare RFIs Communicate directly with the subcontractor and supply community Feed what is learned in the bid process - customer expectations, scope sensitivities, budget pressures, competitive dynamics -– back to operations so delivery is set up to succeed Use operations insight on productivity rates, material costs, site conditions, and lessons learned to inform how future work is priced Working with the team Work closely with the Pase business development manager and the project managers to develop strategy, competitive differentiation, and an overall understanding of each project Work closely with all stakeholders through the bid process to understand and capture the complete scope in the scope summary sheets and the estimate at large Conduct hand-off and kickoff meetings with operations and project management for clarity of scope, schedule, subs, and suppliers Apply the estimating methodology, pricing framework, scope templates, and unit cost library as they are standardized across the CWES BMP businesses Perform other duties as assigned Requirements Minimum of 3 years' experience in estimating on commercial and residential construction projects Highly productive and willing to manage a busy work schedule independently Superior verbal and written (including technical) communication skills Proficiency in computer skills, with the ability to adapt and learn programs such as On-Screen Takeoff, iSqFt, PlanSwift, Blue Beam, Bid Board and B2W Estimate Ability to read and interpret financial data relating to cost and margin Proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Office Preferred Four-year BS degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management Experience in all aspects of heavy civil work #J-18808-Ljbffr
