RN ER Charge Nurse

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room (ER) Charge Nurse role is responsible for providing skilled nursing care during night shifts, overseeing patient care activities, and coordinating the nursing team to ensure efficient and effective delivery of emergency services. This role requires strong clinical skills, leadership capabilities, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to manage patient assessments, treatments, and emergency interventions in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to patients in the Emergency Room setting during night shifts.
• Perform patient assessments, administer medications, and develop treatment plans as needed.
• Coordinate and lead the nursing team during assigned shifts to ensure smooth operations and high-quality patient care.
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and clinical observations.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations and provide critical interventions as necessary.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff education.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
• Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
• Minimum of 3 years nursing experience preferred, ideally with ER or critical care background.
• Proof of negative TB screen within 12 months prior to contract start date.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Effective communication and leadership abilities.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in charge nurse or leadership roles within emergency or critical care settings.
• Additional certifications relevant to emergency nursing or trauma care.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and hospital information systems.

Special Considerations:

• Night shift position with charge nurse responsibilities from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity emergency room environment.
• Compliance with hospital health screening and safety protocols.

Scheduling:

• Three 12-hour night shifts per week, totaling 36 hours guaranteed weekly.
• Shift differential pay applies for charge nurse shifts during night hours.
