Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU/IMC Float Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years of PCU/IMC experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must have 2 years of PCU/IMC experience. Prior neuro experience preferred. Experience with EPIC is preferred. Comfortable titrating and managing cardiac drips, insulin, ativan, and heparin. Description: Travelers are expected to float throughout the assigned zone. Each zone covers a 60-mile radius from the city center. The traveler is responsible for obtaining housing that makes this feasible. The requirement to float applies regardless of housing location. Nurse-patient ratios are 1:3-4, depending on acuity. Common patient populations include adults and geriatrics. Common diagnoses include cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, renal, urology post-surgical, general surgery, gynecology, psych/detox, ENT, general medicine, and stable long-term placement patients. Travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill scheduling gaps. Weekend work requirement is 6-9 shifts in a 6-week schedule. May be asked to participate in holiday rotation. Units assigned may include ICU, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele. Designated charge nurse on each unit; may take a patient assignment as necessary. Nurse aids are present on the unit to assist with ratios. RT equipment such as vents, CPAP, and BiPAP is available on the unit. Scheduling is managed by leadership for 6-week intervals, and all time-off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment. Charting system utilized is EPIC. Cancellation policy allows for cancellation of up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
