Limited Term, Full-Time Plumber I PositionPatton State Hospital, Human Resources Department is accepting applications for at least one (1) Limited Term, Full-Time Plumber I position in the Facility Operations Department. The position is under the direction of the Plumbing Supervisor. A Training and Development (T&D) assignment may be considered. Limited term positions may be extended up to 24 months with the possibility of becoming Permanent.The Plumber I position is established to support a specific facility improvement project involving anti-ligature restroom renovations within patient-occupied buildings. The incumbent will perform plumbing duties associated with the project and will work collaboratively with contractors and other skilled trade staff to complete assigned renovations in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, safety requirements, and institutional procedures. The incumbent must be able to follow oral and written instructions and may provide directions to unskilled assistants as assigned.Duties may include:Installing, maintaining, repairing, and modifying plumbing systems and fixturesReading and interpreting blueprints, plans, and specificationsPreparing rough sketchesEstimating materials and labor for minor plumbing workMaintaining records and preparing basic reportsProperly using and caring for tools, materials, and equipmentKNOWLEDGE OF:Principles, methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in plumbing; Construction and General Safety Orders of the Division of Industrial Safety applicable to plumbing; and relevant building codes are needed for this opportunity.The position requires the ability to perform the physical demands associated with the plumbing trade, including bending, reaching, climbing stairs, navigating slopes and inclines, working at heights, and performing work outdoors in varying weather conditions.The position(s) requires a Drug Screening to be passed prior to being hired.In order to gain list eligibility and be appointed to the Plumber I classification, please follow the link below to the exam bulletin.
