Senior Project Engineer

Job Summary Timmons Group is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our team. While we may not have an immediate opening in all locations, we consider applications for future roles that match the following areas: Land Development (Residential, Commercial, Municipal/Government) Stormwater Wastewater Traffic & Transportation Environmental Structural Essential Duties and Responsibilities Use professional judgment to direct and independently complete assigned engineering designs. Assist the Project Manager or act as Project Manager, assigning tasks, scheduling, and monitoring progress. Check the accuracy of assigned tasks completed by other engineering and technical staff. Make major design decisions that meet the needs of external customers while coordinating impact on related project efforts. Proactively identify technical, schedule, or financial issues and seek resolution from the Project Manager and/or the client as appropriate. Assist the client in bidding or contractor selection if authorized by the Project Manager. Monitor construction and supervise field personnel assigned to a task, data collection, or a specific project. Respond to contractor questions and issues and prepare and issue project addenda as needed. Recommend and prepare change orders. Participate in the creation of engineering services proposals, including the calculation/estimation of time schedules and costs of the proposed work. Sign and seal engineering documents as an authorized representative of the company. Independently communicate on technical matters with the client. Act as a technical expert on assigned projects when operating as an individual contributor and act as Project Manager on smaller‑scope or specialty projects as assigned. Skills and Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, a scientific area, or equivalent work experience. Professional registration (P.E., L.S.) in one or more states where Timmons Group conducts business is strongly preferred. Seven or more years of design/engineering experience and the ability to act as an authorized agent of the company to sign engineering documents. Capability to correctly operate technical analysis equipment and computer equipment. Strong technical verbal and written communication skills and the ability to read technical literature and engineering plans. Effective two‑way communication skills for working with internal staff and external clients. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to apply professional knowledge to routine and non‑routine tasks. Participation in external activities representing the firm, including membership or leadership in professional associations, public task forces, committees, or community/technical outreach opportunities. Maturity, professionalism, and a willingness to solve internal and external client problems. Development of financial project management skills through assigned project work and project management assignments. Compensation Estimated salary range: $100,000–$140,000. Offers are based on experience, skills, education, credentials, and role complexity.
