About the Position

Job Title: Operating Room Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 40-hour day, 4/10-hour days with call rotation Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: O.R. nursing experience preferred License: Current MA RN license Certifications: ACLS upon hire or active BLS card and obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days of hire Must-Have: Excellent communication skills, ability to multitask, and a positive attitude Description: Conduct interactions with everyone in a friendly, courteous, and respectful manner. Go out of the way to offer assistance to others. If unable to offer assistance, find someone who can. Advocate to ensure privacy and confidentiality while maintaining awareness. Maintain a clean and safe environment. Respond appropriately and immediately in emergency situations. Ensure a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Ensure compliance with regulations to maintain accreditation and licensure. Comply with the Attendance and Tardiness Policy. Report incidents promptly and effectively. Engage in monitoring and enforcing compliance with hand hygiene. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions and patient goals. Provide patient care based on standards of care and established policies and procedures. Respect each patient as an individual and provide care that fosters dignity and positive self-regard. Provide patient/family teaching based on identified learning needs and readiness to learn. Plan and prepare patients and families for discharge, incorporating necessary support systems. Delegate and supervise nursing interventions performed by others appropriately. Prioritize patient care effectively, seeking assistance from appropriate resources when needed. Provide thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of all pertinent data and patient responses. Communicate timely and thorough reports to other healthcare team members for continuity of care. Promote learning for colleagues and self through various developmental activities. Identify risks to patient safety and opportunities to reduce healthcare errors. Address ethical issues in care and develop plans to resolve them. Administer medications and intravenous therapy safely according to orders and policies. Assess and reassess patient pain levels according to established protocols. Collaborate with the surgical team to assure patient well-being during interventions. Maintain sterile fields and handle supplies and instruments according to established standards. Verify patient identification and consent forms before procedures. Apply aseptic practices and prepare supplies, equipment, and instrumentation for surgical cases. Use principles of body mechanics when positioning and transferring patients. Ensure accuracy of all techniques and practices during surgical procedures. Maintain counts of sponges, needles, and instruments in accordance with policies. Handle specimens and cultures according to established procedures.
