Infection Prevention Liaison

Location: New York Local, Remote or Hybrid: Local Schedule: Part Time - Up to 21 hours per week. Scheduled is 8AM-5PM, Weekends included Contract: 16W Important Call Outs: MUST be willing to travel to all facility locations (8 campuses). NYC (Allen, Columbia, Cornell, Brooklyn Methodist, Lower Manhattan) and Westchester campuses (Westchester & Westchester Behavioral Health)

Client is seeking new grads or college students seeking to start healthcare experience. Those who have an interest in infection control

Required Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED with matriculation in a two or four year college program
• Experience: Strong interpersonal skills, highly organized, excellent communication and multi-tasking skills, ability to work with diverse community groups
• Excellent communication skills to convey mission and purpose to internal and external stakeholders
• Someone with a non-clinical background as the Liaison will be assisting Infection Preventionist

Key Responsibilities:

• Infection Prevention Liaisons (IPLs) monitor hand hygiene practices, staff compliance with isolation precautions and personal protective equipment and conduct quality assurance checks for share mobile equipment in various areas in the hospital across all eight NYP campuses.
• IPLs are trained and validated to conduct direct observations, which is the gold standard in monitoring hand hygiene and other infection prevention practices.
• In addition to conducting hand hygiene observations, they also educate healthcare workers about any missed hand hygiene or other infection prevention opportunities.
• After educating HCWs about missed opportunities, IPLs document and communicate the results of their observations to supervisors, managers and Patient Care Directors (PCDs), medical directors and other hospital leaders.
• Infection Prevention & Control Liaisons conduct direct observations, which is the gold standard in monitoring hand hygiene and other infection prevention practices to satisfy Joint Commission, CMS and the Department of Health standards.
