Duties include the disassembly, cleaning, inspection, assembly and scanning of items to be sterilized, correct packaging of items, loading of sterilizers to achieve sterility, accurate handling, transportation and storage to maintain sterilization. The sterile processing technician monitors sterilization mechanically, chemically and biologically. This position must understand the decontamination processes and inventory control processes. This position provides department specific assistance from the retrieval of soiled instruments to the storage of sterile instruments. Duties include retrieval and transportation of instruments, rendering contaminated items safe for handling, following specific procedures related to transporting cleaned items to areas for proper storage or other areas for further processing. Must have good communication, auditory and visual skills, be hands-on, be analytical and be detail oriented.This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Blessing Hospital. ICARE standards must be demonstrated.
