SECURITY OFFICER & SHUTTLE DRIVER

Position Summary:

The Security Officer / Shuttle Driver is responsible for providing a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all guests, team members, and visitors of Louisiana Downs Casino & Racetrack. This position will primarily perform Security Officer responsibilities with additional shuttle driver duties assigned Thursday through Sunday, based on operational needs and business demands.

The Security Officer / Shuttle Driver will provide exceptional guest service while ensuring the protection of company assets, maintaining a professional presence, and supporting transportation needs throughout the property. The schedule and assigned duties may change based on business volume, special events, and operational requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Security Officer Responsibilities:

• Maintain a safe and secure environment for guests, team members, and property assets.
• Conduct routine patrols of assigned areas, including interior and exterior property locations.
• Monitor activities throughout the property and identify/report safety concerns, suspicious behavior, or policy violations.
• Respond professionally and appropriately to guest concerns, incidents, emergencies, and requests for assistance.
• Assist with crowd management, special events, and high-volume operational periods.
• Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety standards while providing excellent guest service.
• Complete accurate incident reports, logs, and required documentation.
• Assist with emergency response situations including medical incidents, evacuations, and safety concerns.
• Protect company property and assist in maintaining a safe environment for all.
• Work collaboratively with leadership and other departments to support overall property operations.
• Maintain a professional appearance and represent Louisiana Downs Casino & Racetrack positively at all times.

Shuttle Driver Responsibilities (Thursday-Sunday):

• Operate company shuttle vehicle safely and responsibly to transport guests and team members as assigned.
• Provide friendly, professional, and courteous service to all passengers.
• Assist guests with transportation needs while creating a positive experience.
• Follow all traffic laws, company procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Complete required vehicle inspections before and after operation.
• Report any vehicle concerns, maintenance issues, or safety hazards immediately.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shuttle vehicle.
• Assist guests with entering and exiting the shuttle safely when needed.
• Adjust shuttle responsibilities and availability based on business demands, special events, and property needs.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous security, hospitality, customer service, or transportation experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license required with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to safely operate a company shuttle vehicle.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-focused during challenging situations.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.
• Must meet all requirements for employment within the gaming industry, including background and licensing requirements.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to patrol and monitor property areas.
• Ability to safely operate and enter/exit a shuttle vehicle.
• Ability to assist guests and respond quickly during emergency situations.
• Ability to work in various indoor and outdoor environments.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items as needed.

Work Environment:

This position works in a fast-paced casino and entertainment environment where safety, professionalism, and guest service are priorities. Team members may be assigned additional responsibilities or schedule adjustments to support operational needs and ensure an exceptional experience for guests and team members.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent and two years' experience in a position with direct guest contact required.
• Must possess excellent customer and employee relations skills.
• Must have a valid driver's license with no suspensions, DUI or more than 2 moving vehicle violations within the last 3 years.
• Must be able to work any day of the week and any shift.
• Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team.
• Must be able to obtain First Aid, CPR, and Alcohol Awareness Certifications.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must be able to push or pull up to 150 pounds.
• Ability to make rational decisions when handling guest and employee issues.
• Ability to give court testimony when necessary and write detailed reports.
• Must be able to work and stand inside and outside, sometimes in heat in excess of 115 degrees or cold as low as 10 degrees.
• Must be able to respond calmly in crisis and stressful situations.
• Must be able to tolerate an environment containing smoke, high noise levels, strobing lights.
