Director of Engagement & Education (71101)

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Engagement, Culture & Community, the Director of Engagement and Education provides strategic and operational leadership for Pratt’s engagement, education, and community‑building initiatives across Brooklyn and Manhattan campuses. The Director leads the development, implementation, assessment and coordination of educational programming, dialogue initiatives, leadership development opportunities, trainings and campus‑wide engagement efforts that strengthen institutional culture, community connection and shared responsibility across the Pratt community. 1. Strategic Engagement, Education and Community Initiatives (30%) Lead divisional engagement, education and community‑building initiatives aligned with strategic priorities of the Office of Engagement, Culture & Community. Coordinate implementation, assessment and continuous improvement of high‑impact engagement programs and signature initiatives that strengthen institutional connection. Support civil discourse and community education initiatives that strengthen institutional culture and campus connection. Develop and implement scalable engagement frameworks, including train‑the‑trainer models, peer education and leadership development opportunities. Coordinate workshops, trainings and dialogues for students, faculty, staff and partners. Monitor participation and assessment data to evaluate effectiveness and inform strategic planning. 2. Shared Community Space Leadership and Operations (25%) Provide operational leadership and programmatic oversight aligned with divisional priorities. Oversee daily operations, annual planning and community engagement initiatives connected to the programming calendar. Coordinate program operations, staffing support, communications and budget processes with campus collaborators. Lead coordination of heritage programming, educational initiatives, keynote events and campus‑wide engagement opportunities. Support operational planning, vendor coordination and event support for divisional programs. Collaborate with campus partners and communications offices to strengthen outreach and visibility. 3. Co‑Curricular Training and Educational Programming Development (20%) Lead development, coordination, implementation and assessment of educational curricula, trainings and dialogue initiatives aligned with institutional priorities. Develop and facilitate educational initiatives related to bias prevention, intersectionality, gender and sexuality and leadership development. Collaborate with the Center for Teaching and Learning to support faculty development and classroom practice initiatives. Partner with Human Resources, Academic Affairs and Student Affairs to integrate engagement education into onboarding and employee learning systems. Support development of sustainable educational infrastructure and shared responsibility models that strengthen institutional capacity for engagement and accountability. 4. Leadership Development, Supervision and Student Engagement (15%) Provide supervision and leadership development for professional staff, graduate assistants and student employees. Coordinate peer education initiatives and student leadership development opportunities that strengthen participation. Collaborate with Student Involvement to advise student leaders and community‑centered student organizations. Support collaborative leadership structures and educational partnerships that strengthen campus connection. 5. Institutional Collaboration and Campus Partnership (10%) Serve as a campus partner for engagement and community initiatives across the Institute. Collaborate with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Human Resources and Institutional Equity & Title IX to coordinate high‑impact initiatives. Represent the Division of Engagement, Culture & Community on institutional committees and task forces. Partner with divisional leadership on strategic initiatives and operational coordination efforts. Serve as a collaborative partner supporting institutional communication and community engagement. Qualifications Education Master’s degree required; terminal degree preferred in higher education administration, organizational leadership, public policy, accessibility studies, or a related field. Experience Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in higher education leading engagement, education or community‑based initiatives, supervising staff and managing program operations and budgets.
