Operating Room - OR RN - Travel Nurse TNAA TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in Woodward, Oklahoma. Specialty: OR - Operating Room Discipline: RN Duration: 12 weeks Hours: 40 hours per week Shift: 8 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Responsibilities Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients. Provide pre‑ and post‑surgery care and education to patients. Serves as the communication liaison between patients' families and the operating team. Ensure that the correct procedure(s) is being performed on the correct patient. Initiate patient education plans as prescribed by the physician; teach patients and families how to manage medication and home‑care needs. Circulating OR Nurse duties Respond to comfort and safety needs of patients. Accurate care and handling of specimens. Monitor equipment used during surgery. Inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure. Scrub OR Nurse duties Selection and handling of surgical instruments and supplies during procedures. Inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure. RN First Assistant duties Assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care. Help control bleeding. Suture patients following surgery. Stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty; able to lift 20 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Handle potential hazards from exposure to chemicals or infectious diseases in the operating room environment. Qualifications 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse; RN first assistant experience is a plus. ACLS, BLS, PALS certifications required (minimum of 2 years of practice). Additional certifications may be required before assignment. Valid RN license in the state of work. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to perform physical demands of the role.
