Industrial Maintenance Specialist

Brewer Science, Inc. is a major innovator of high-technology solutions for the semiconductor / microelectronics markets. We are currently seeking a purpose-driven candidate with an ownership mentality to fill an open position as an Industrial Maintenance Specialist. This position will be located in Dayton, OH.

Summary: The Industrial Maintenance Specialist performs preventive and corrective maintenance on a variety of equipment in a chemical manufacturing facility, focusing on general maintenance, compressors, steam and deionized water systems, recirculating pumps, and other mechanical systems. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, repairs, metal fabrication, welding, grinding, lubrication, and safe operation of maintenance tools and lifts. The role supports equipment efficiency and minimizes downtime, installs new equipment (including utility hookups), and removes or stores obsolete units. Additional duties include supporting the facility's recycling and 5S programs.

Responsibilities: Industrial Maintenance Specialist I

• Perform routine preventative maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs on plant support equipment, including assisting with vacuum pumps, air compressors, dryers, and building water treatment systems for process supply and HVAC.
• Assist with installation, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical and electrical systems, including ventilation, exhaust, heating systems, and equipment utility support for CDA, nitrogen, and vacuum plumbing.
• Assist with general maintenance tasks such as small construction and space remodels, office furniture moves, standard plumbing & sewer repairs, rain gutters, and external window weatherproofing.
• Perform basic upkeep of the campus, including door hardware adjustment and repair, cleaning, roof leak repairs, 5S efforts, recycling, and maintenance of physical spaces and campus decor.
• Operate maintenance equipment such as ladders, lifts, and scaffolding safely when accessing elevated areas.
• Maintain the functionality and compliance of eye wash stations throughout the facility
• Support office moves and remodels, including flooring, wall, ceiling, and sheetrock repair and painting.
• Use basic welding, brazing, and grinding skills to complete minor repairs and adjustments.
• Maintain accurate documentation of completed maintenance tasks, including time spent and parts used.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures while ensuring a safe work environment, demonstrating basic mechanical and electrical knowledge, ability to follow instructions, and proficient use of hand and power tools.
• All other duties as assigned.

Industrial Maintenance Specialist II

• Same duties as Industrial Maintenance Specialist.
• Additional duties as Industrial Maintenance Specialist II:
  • Perform both preventive and corrective maintenance on plant support and production equipment, including scheduled inspections, repairs, and equipment replacements.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems, including HVAC and exhaust systems, using advanced diagnostic skills.
  • Support and collaborate with other maintenance specialists to ensure safe and effective execution of maintenance tasks.
  • Independently execute maintenance activities aligned with specialized trade skills, including welding, brazing, grinding, and other fabrication work as needed.
  • Conduct routine lubrication, cleaning, and general upkeep of machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain and repair facility safety systems such as eye wash stations and emergency equipment.
  • Safely operate ladders, lifts, and scaffolding to access elevated or restricted maintenance areas.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Accurately document all maintenance activities, including repairs performed and preventive measures taken.
  • Participate in the facility's on-call support rotation to assist with campus emergencies and critical plant operations.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education & Credentials: Industrial Maintenance Specialist I

• High School diploma and 2+ years related experience or
• Associate's or vocational degree in industrial maintenance technology, electrical, electronics, controls, or related field, or
• An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Industrial Maintenance Specialist II

• High School diploma and 4+ years related experience or
• Associate's or vocational degree in industrial maintenance technology, electrical, electronics, controls, or related field and 2+ years related experience or
• An equivalent combination of education and experience.
