Position Overview Counselor/Psychologist; Coordinator for Mental Health Equity is a full‑time staff position within the Counseling Center. The role provides clinical services, crisis intervention, and consultation, and works collaboratively with campus offices and student groups to support student mental health, particularly students of color. The position also offers leadership within the Counseling Center and participates in university committees and training activities. Duties and Responsibilities Provide clinical services in assessment, individual, and group therapy for Marquette and MIAD students, including crisis intervention, consultation, and referral information. Liaise between the Counseling Center and integral campus offices, connecting with student groups and providing outreach about Counseling Center services and relevant health topics. Conduct outreach, attend events, and deliver educational materials, some of which occur on weekends and after business hours. Develop referral networks to meet extended mental health, physical health, and spiritual health needs of students on campus and in the community. Participate in university/departmental committees, task forces, and work groups to represent evidence‑informed, culturally responsive support for students of color. Provide training opportunities and in‑services to clinical staff in Wellness + Recreation regarding licensure maintenance, certifications, and ongoing professional development. Supervise an advanced‑level practicum student/trainee and participate as a member of the training team when indicated. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Master’s degree in clinical counseling psychology, social work, or related field. Minimum of one year of experience in a clinical counseling setting. Licensed in the state of Wisconsin at degree level or eligible to be licensed within one year of employment. Available to serve as secondary, back‑up coverage after‑hours (nights and weekends) in a shared/scheduled semester rotation. Ability to provide clinical services that are responsive and sensitive to unique student populations, specifically students of color. Demonstrated knowledge and application of culturally sensitive and responsive psychotherapy and crisis assessment. Ability to work with high acuity students with complex mental health and substance misuse concerns. Collaborative work with a multidisciplinary Counseling Center team, including trainees and a psychiatric prescriber. Adherence to confidentiality and privacy standards in all forms of communication; experience with electronic health records. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Doctoral degree in clinical counseling psychology, social work, or related field. Three years of group counseling and/or university‑based counseling center experience. Supervisory experience. Experience working with college‑aged demographic, including non‑traditional and professional school students. Knowledge, skills, and experience working with students with intersecting identities.
