The schedule is day shifts from 07:00 to 15:30, with weekend scheduling every other week. Candidates must possess the ability to charge, de-escalate situations, and multitask in a fast-paced environment. Reliability, dependability, and critical thinking skills are essential. Restraint training is also required. The unit supports a maximum of 16 beds, typically staffing with 2 RNs per shift. In certain circumstances, additional mental health clinicians may be utilized to maintain appropriate ratios. The patient population includes adolescents with various behavioral health diagnoses such as major depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Experience in child and adolescent psychology is crucial. Responsibilities include medication administration, blood glucose monitoring, and implementing seclusion protocols and procedures. Training in physical hold protocols will be provided. All candidates must pass a drug screen as part of the onboarding process. Travelers are expected to float to various age populations as scheduling necessitates. Modules will be completed during orientation and annually, varying by specialty. This role will require adaptability and a commitment to patient care in a supportive environment.
