Project Manager - Hybrid

Position Overview The Project Manager will independently manage one or more complex, medium to large extramurally funded public health research projects supported by state, federal, and other research funding mechanisms involving tobacco, cannabis, substance use, behavioral health, implementation science, prevention, regulatory science, and community‑engaged research. Responsibilities include coordinating multi‑component research projects; supporting intervention, curriculum, and training development activities; overseeing project operations and timelines; facilitating communication among stakeholders and collaborating organizations; contributing to data management, analysis, dissemination, and reporting activities; and ensuring successful execution of project goals and deliverables. The Project Manager will contribute to implementation and evaluation efforts involving mixed‑methods research, technology‑supported interventions and training systems, stakeholder‑engaged research activities, and policy‑ and practice‑relevant public health initiatives. The position may also provide guidance, training, and task oversight to research staff, students, or project personnel as needed. Minimum Qualifications Demonstrated leadership and management skills with strong decision‑making and independent judgment. Flexibility to adapt to frequent changes in a large and dynamic work environment. Ability to facilitate meetings. Thorough knowledge of and experience with IRB regulations, Human Subjects Rights and informed consent procedures. Strong practical knowledge and experience in developing, implementing, and managing behavioral research. Ability to work effectively as a member of the project team. Demonstrated ability to work independently, with attention to detail, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines under pressure. Advanced knowledge of experimental protocols, data gathering, protocol design and evaluation. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including tact and diplomacy. Demonstrated extensive experience in research protocol start‑up procedures. Advanced computer skills including Word and Excel for manuscript and data production. Experience in prioritizing workload independently and giving direction to team members. Experience in providing work direction and maintaining an efficient project team. Strong experience in planning meetings and decision‑making. Experience in project development and coordination, strategic planning, grant writing and development. Preferred Qualifications Advanced practical knowledge and experience in the development of programmatic and/or clinical intervention related to tobacco and cannabis control. Demonstrated knowledge of tobacco control. Knowledge of wireless technology applications as persuasive devices in behavior change. Graduate degree (PhD) in public health, psychology, education, or related field with extensive theoretical knowledge of behavior change as it relates to social norms. Special Conditions Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical. Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs. Occasional evenings and weekends or university holidays may be required. Must be available to travel nationally several times per year. Pay Transparency Act Annual full pay range: $78,229 - $125,903 (prorated if appointment is less than 100%). Hourly equivalent: $37.47 - $60.30. Factors include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business needs.
