Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Banner Architect / Technical Lead to provide technical architecture, project leadership, and implementation expertise for complex Ellucian Banner and enterprise ERP environments . The successful candidate will work closely with infrastructure, database, integration, data migration, functional, and Ellucian Cloud Services teams to design and implement secure, scalable, and reliable solutions.

The role requires a strong combination of technical architecture, project management, systems analysis, Oracle database expertise, infrastructure architecture, and client-facing consulting skills , with Banner 9 and Ellucian Ethos Integration experience strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical architecture and implementation activities for complex Ellucian Banner / ERP projects .

• Establish and manage technical project timelines, milestones, dependencies, resources, and priorities.

• Develop detailed technical project plans within defined budgets in collaboration with the Project Manager.

• Coordinate technical activities across infrastructure, database, functional, integration, data migration, security, and application teams .

• Work closely with Ellucian Cloud Services, DBAs, Infrastructure teams, Integration Engineers, and other technical stakeholders .

• Ensure technical deliverables are completed within contractual obligations, project timelines, and SLA requirements .

• Lead Current State and Future State assessments covering application functionality, technology, infrastructure, and business processes.

• Facilitate technical workshops, whiteboarding sessions, and architecture discussions using tools such as Microsoft Visio .

• Design and document complex ERP system architectures , including hardware, network, application, database, and integration components.

• Develop technical roadmaps aligned with the client's future-state technology strategy.

• Identify, document, monitor, and proactively mitigate technical project risks.

• Conduct systems audits, technical assessments, and risk evaluations.

• Develop operational strategies and Technical Production Transition Plans for client go-lives.

• Review and validate technical installation, configuration, deployment, and technical assessment reports.

• Provide recommendations for system and application management based on industry best practices.

• Support secure server and application access planning for consultants and technical teams.

• Assist Infrastructure teams with hardware, software, server, and instance management .

• Provide guidance on database, application, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery requirements.

• Facilitate knowledge transfer and provide training on Banner and database concepts .

• Document current, intermediate, and future-state technical architectures.

• Communicate technical recommendations and technology requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Evaluate technology solutions and capabilities to ensure alignment with business and institutional objectives.

• Promote technical standards, architecture guidelines, quality controls, and recommended practices.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 8 10 years of overall IT/technical experience .

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline ; Master's degree is preferred.

• Demonstrated experience as a Technical Lead, Solution Architect, Technical Architect, or ERP Architect .

• Strong project management and technical delivery experience.

• Experience managing multiple concurrent technical projects and priorities.

• Strong background in enterprise ERP systems and complex technology environments .

• Experience designing and architecting complex ERP hardware, network, application, and database environments .

• Strong systems analysis and complex problem-solving skills.

• Ability to deconstruct complex technical issues, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions.

• Experience developing strategic implementation plans for complex IT initiatives.

• Strong client-facing, presentation, technical writing, and communication skills.

• Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership, technical teams, functional teams, and end users .

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and changing environment.

Banner & ERP Experience

• Experience with Ellucian Banner is strongly preferred.

• Experience with Banner 9 is an asset.

• Experience with Ellucian Ethos Integration is preferred.

• Experience implementing and supporting large-scale ERP systems .

• Strong understanding of ERP application architecture, integrations, and system management.

• Experience supporting enterprise application implementations, upgrades, migrations, and go-live activities.

Technical Skills

• Strong experience with Oracle 11g/12c databases .

• Experience supporting Oracle databases in Windows, UNIX, and/or Linux environments.

• Experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery .

• Experience with infrastructure and application architecture.

• Knowledge of Identity Management, Single Sign-On (SSO), and account provisioning is an asset.

• Experience with web application deployment and management is preferred.

• Knowledge of Apache Tomcat and SSL is a plus.

• Experience with hardware, software, server, network, and instance management.

• Strong understanding of business continuity, disaster recovery, and emergency management practices.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Visio for architecture diagrams and technical documentation.

Technical Leadership & Project Management

• Demonstrated Agile project management experience.

• Ability to develop technical project plans covering resources, dependencies, durations, priorities, and criticality .

• Strong risk, issue, dependency, and change management capabilities.

• Experience coordinating cross-functional technical teams.

• Ability to manage project deliverables against scope, budget, timelines, contractual obligations, and SLAs .

• Strong organizational and stakeholder management skills.
