In this rewarding position, you'll transport people supported by The Arc Ontario, contract passengers, and members of the public along designated routes, while providing assistance with boarding, exiting, and mobility equipment as needed. You'll help ensure a smooth and comfortable ride, keep vehicles clean and in good working order, and contribute to a culture of safety and care. Adheres to routes and operates vehicle(s) in a manner which assures passenger safety.Responds to individual needs of passengers and report any issues to a supervisor. Utilizes two-way radio to contact base when necessary.Provides supervision and assists passengers during loading and unloading of vehicle at designated stops. Demonstrates safe and correct use of wheelchair lifts, seat belts, Q-Straints, etc. Demonstrates proper lifting techniques when transferring passengers from a wheel chair to a seat, during emergencies, and when lifting equipment (walkers, coolers, backpacks, etc.) into a bus.Requirements:Must be at least 18 years old.HS diploma/GED preferred and one year of experience or an equivalent amount of education and experience.No moving violations for 12 Months prior to hireValid NYS class D driver's licenseThe Arc Ontario is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to creating an inclusive and diverse workplace.
