ELECTRICIAN

Electrician

The Stockton Port District is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Electrician. This is a Journeyman-level classification, which under general supervision performs installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and diagnostic work on a variety of electrical equipment, including cranes.

Note: Effective July 1, 2026 the hourly rate for this position will be $44.53.

Examples Of Duties

• Inspects, maintains, repairs, installs, and tests AC and DC electrical systems and equipment, including electrical circuits, transformers, switches, light fixtures, 3 phase motor control systems up to 480v, motors, generators, outlets, control panels, CCTV Cameras and communication networks.
• Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
• Installs conduit and pull wire for motors, control panels, light fixtures, and outlets.
• May perform cable splices of varying complexity including fiber optics.
• Provides cost estimates for labor, material, and supplies required to perform a specific assignment.
• Performs phase balancing operations and load computations on a variety of electrical circuits.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of four (4) years related experience at a Journeyman-level. Experience working with different kinds of electrical devices and systems with a high level of responsibility and attention to safety precautions.

• Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license and be insurable under the Port's liability policy or provide other insurance acceptable to the Port.
• Medical clearance for respirator use.
• Must pass a background investigation and be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
