Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist# Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist## Description**JOB SUMMARY:*** The Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist performs all complexities of testing, complete Quality Control Data review and sign-off, and assist with staff competency training within the clinical laboratory to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The medical technologist scientist will help with restocking of lab supplies and some lab billing as assigned.**PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:**1. Adheres to Brodstone Healthcare’s Mission, Vision and Values.2. Adheres to Brodstone Healthcare’s Standards of Behavior.3. Draws blood from patients (adults, children or infants) by venipuncture or capillary puncture as per procedure.4. Performs clinical laboratory analysis of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid.5. Performs blood type, antibody screen, and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes.6. Analyzes test results, enters test results in computerized report formats, and calls results according to laboratory policies for critical values.7. Performs quality control studies to ensure accuracy of clinical data.8. Performs routine preventative maintenance on assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedules and procedure.9. Verifies instrument functioning by checking and calibrating specific laboratory instruments and documents data.10. Records on instrument logs, repairs, replacement and maintenance performed on equipment.11. Participates in orientation of new personnel.12. Keeps all patient information confidential and respects patient’s privacy.13. Follows all Safety and Infection Control policies as prescribed in hospital and laboratory policies/procedures.14. Performs high, moderate, and waived complexity of testing.15. Performs Quality Control Data review and signs off on correctness and accuracy16. Assists with additional Training and Periodic Staff Competency testing/performance.17. Performs the duties of a Phlebotomist, Medical Laboratory Assistant, and Medical Laboratory Technician as needed.18. Attends and participates in departmental meetings / in-services, Brodstone Healthcare quality improvement program, etc.19. Performs other duties as assigned.## Qualifications**EDUCATION:*** Required + Bachelor's Degree**EXPERIENCE:*** Preferred + 1-2 Years in laboratory setting**CERTIFICATE, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:*** **Required** + Current Drivers License + BLS certification within 3 months of employment* **Preferred** + MT / MLS (ASCP) or equivalent certification completed within 6 months of employment.*Join Brodstone Healthcare and have a lasting impact on Rural Nebraska!* #J-18808-Ljbffr
