Operations Supervisor

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate daily hauling and field operations to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
• Assign drivers, trucks, routes, and work orders based on operational needs and priorities.
• Develop and implement route plans for assigned lines of business.
• Provide daily briefings to drivers regarding priorities, service issues, and operational concerns.
• Monitor driver and truck activity throughout the workday, addressing delays, downtime, and route progress.
• Promptly resolve missed stops and service-related issues to maintain customer satisfaction.
• Ensure drivers complete proper check-in procedures after route completion.
• Train, coach, and supervise employees to uphold safety, compliance, and performance standards.
• Conduct accident and injury investigations and administer progressive disciplinary actions as needed.
• Address customer inquiries and resolve service concerns, maintaining positive customer relationships.
• Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, company safety policies, and applicable regulations.
• Promote a strong culture of safety and accountability through regular safety training.
• May oversee Dispatch, Scalehouse, and administrative support staff as required.
• Complete operational reporting and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
• Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
• Supervisory or management experience in transportation, logistics, hauling, waste/recycling, or a similar industry strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA rules and regulations.
• Familiarity with hauling regulations, safety standards, and route planning.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to organize, delegate, coach, and hold employees accountable.
• Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with employees, customers, and management.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and manage changing daily priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word; experience with logistics or routing systems is a plus.
• Knowledge of local roads and highways preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
