The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology within the Department of Medicine at our medical school, in collaboration with the Transplant Center, is on the lookout for a full-time fellowship-trained Transplant Hepatologist. This role is part of a well-regarded and expanding multidisciplinary liver transplant program. The academic rank offered—Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor—will be determined based on the candidate's experience and scholarly achievements.

Our Transplant Center stands as one of the largest and most comprehensive transplant programs in the nation, fostering a collaborative atmosphere with exceptional clinical volume, innovative research initiatives, and a strong commitment to education. The selected candidate will become part of a vibrant team of transplant hepatologists, surgeons, advanced practice providers, and various specialists dedicated to enhancing the care of patients with severe liver conditions.

The chosen candidate will deliver thorough clinical care for individuals with advanced liver disease and those undergoing liver transplants, managing both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities across our healthcare facilities and affiliated locations.

This physician will be a vital contributor to patient care, clinical innovation, and academic growth within the Transplant Center, while also supporting the organization’s goals of clinical excellence, education, research, and quality enhancement.

1. Clinical Care

• Deliver inpatient and outpatient services for patients with general liver conditions, advanced liver disease, and those in the process of liver transplantation.
• Engage in transplant hepatology clinical services across our healthcare facilities.
• Participate in shared on-call duties for transplant hepatology and provide care on the inpatient liver transplant service and general hepatology consultation service.
• Assist in the assessment, selection, and management of liver transplant candidates and recipients.

2. Academic and Program Development

• Hold an academic position within the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at our medical school.
• Contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing clinical quality, patient safety, and program expansion within the Transplant Center.
• Engage in clinical research, translational studies, quality improvement projects, and/or educational scholarship, aligned with personal interests.

3. Education and Mentorship

• Participate in the training and mentorship of medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees.
• Support the academic mission through lectures, conferences, and clinical instruction.

4. Program and Institutional Engagement

• Take part in multidisciplinary transplant selection meetings, morbidity and mortality reviews, peer review activities, and program committees.
• Contribute to the creation and implementation of innovative clinical tools, technologies, and care pathways in transplant hepatology.

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Transplant Hepatology Fellowship
• Eligible for or capable of obtaining an unrestricted medical license in Georgia
• Eligible for a DEA controlled substance registration

• Proven interest in clinical research, including clinical trials, quality improvement, education, or program development
• Experience with multidisciplinary transplant programs and live donor selection
