Under the direction of the System Director, Quality and/or System Director, Quality Analytics, the Senior Quality Data Analyst supports quality, safety, patient experience, regulatory, equity and strategic performance analytics across the health system. This role leverages software applications to design advanced reporting and analytic solutions, develops predictive and analytic solutions, performs detailed data mapping and analysis, and translates complex data into actionable insights for operational, financial and strategic decision-making. The Senior Quality Data Analyst serves as a primary analytic point of contact and analytics consultant for assigned quality and operational areas and works as a strategic business partner with leaders and teams to produce data that assists in key decision-making, quality improvement, regulatory readiness, and enhanced patient outcomes. The role leads enterprise-level analytic initiatives, coordinates complex cross-functional projects, and provides subject matter expertise in quality measurement, regulatory reporting, and performance analytics. This position requires intellectual curiosity, strong technical and analytic skills, and the ability to manage multiple complex data projects simultaneously. The Senior Quality Data Analyst utilizes hospital systems, databases, reporting tools, and business intelligence applications to update, analyze, visualize, and disseminate data. This role maintains the integrity and quality of data by understanding workflows, validating source data and metric logic, and translating business needs into technical specifications for reports, dashboards, and analytic products. The position also serves as an enterprise resource for data governance, reporting standards, and performance measurement, while identifying opportunities to enhance analytics through automation, emerging technologies, and artificial intelligence. - Manages multiple complex data projects related to quality, safety, patient experience, regulatory performance, health equity, and internal system goals.
- Leads enterprise-level analytic initiatives spanning multiple hospitals, departments, and business functions, coordinating complex workstreams and balancing competing organizational priorities.
- Serves as a primary analytics consultant for assigned business units, departments, committees, or enterprise-wide quality initiatives by defining analytic requirements, interpreting findings, and recommending data-driven actions.
- Works collaboratively with operational, clinical, administrative and executive leaders to translate business needs and strategic objectives into analytic solutions, performance measures, and actionable insights that support operational and financial decision-making, quality improvement, regulatory readiness, and enhanced patient outcomes.
- Provides subject matter expertise for quality measurement methodologies, regulatory reporting programs, public reporting, value-based purchasing, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Provides consultative expertise to senior leaders on performance improvement opportunities, regulatory strategy, public reporting implications, and organizational benchmarking.
- Designs, develops, maintains, and enhances reporting and analysis tools, including dashboards, scorecards, data visualizations, recurring reports, and ad hoc analyses.
- Creates reports and dashboards that track multidimensional performance against system, regional, hospital, department, service line, regulatory, and quality improvement goals.
- Draws upon advanced technical skills, including programming and/or query skills, business intelligence and data visualization tools to display key results, including trends, variation, control charts, failure rates, stratified analyses, and other displays that support clear communication through data.
- Prepares comprehensive reports, dashboards, summaries, and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Develops predictive models, scenario analyses, and forecasting tools to estimate organizational performance under value-based purchasing, regulatory, contractual, reimbursement, and public reporting programs.
- Transforms complex analytic findings into executive-level insights that identify emerging risks, incentive opportunities, and reputational indicators to support strategic planning.
- Leverages software applications to design solutions, perform complex data mapping and analysis, and generate business, clinical, regulatory, and quality intelligence.
- Extracts, integrates, and analyzes data from multiple internal and external sources. Audits data, investigates discrepancies, resolves issues, and collaborates with appropriate teams to address data quality concerns.
- Interprets complex data, validates analytic findings, and ensures analyses are accurate, complete, and actionable to support organizational decision-making.
- Performs advanced statistical, comparative, and trend analyses to identify performance drivers, evaluate interventions, quantify organizational risk, and support evidence-based decision-making.
- Synthesizes complex analytic findings into strategic recommendations that influence organizational priorities, regulatory compliance, financial incentives, and quality improvement efforts.
- Ensures the integrity, quality and standardization of data meets operational requirements, reporting standards, regulatory specifications and organizational goals.
- Translates business needs and reporting requirements into technical specifications, metric definitions, analytic methods, and report production processes.
- Develops and maintains documentation of analytic methods, metric development, dashboard logic, data dictionaries, and report production processes.
- Acts as a system resource and integral member of data integrity and governance, analytics, and reporting efforts.
- Serves as an enterprise resource for data governance, analytic methodologies, reporting standards, and performance measurement to ensure consistency across the health system.
- Identifies opportunities and leads initiatives to automate reporting processes, improve analytic efficiency, and enhance data governance practices through emerging technologies and advanced analytics.
- Collaborates with Information Systems, Data Governance, Quality, Patient Safety, Regulatory, Patient Experience, Performance Improvement, clinical leaders, and operational teams to develop, maintain, and optimize reporting applications, analytics solutions and data sources.
- Oversees routine and ad hoc dissemination of key information to stakeholders, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, executive, governance, regulatory, and operational reporting as assigned.
- Evaluates the utility of reporting methods and visual representations to improve communication, usability, and decision-making through data.
- Provides analytic expertise and guidance to stakeholders and may serve as a team leader for projects or work groups, fostering collaboration, improving workflows, and supporting successful project execution.
- Mentors analysts and serves as a technical resource for advanced analytic methodologies, reporting standards, data visualization best practices, and quality measurement.
- Supports organizational education related to quality initiatives, regulatory programs, performance metrics, and analytic reporting by developing training materials, metric definitions, documentation, user guides, and educational resources for stakeholders.
- Partners with clinical, operational, and technical teams to evaluate, implement, and optimize artificial intelligence (AI), large language model (LLM), and automation solutions that improve data abstraction, registry reporting, regulatory workflows, and analytic efficiency.
- Serves as a quality and safety subject matter expert to support development, validation, and governance of AI-enabled analytic tools and prompt frameworks to ensure accurate, reliable, and responsible use in analytics for actionable improvement efforts.
- Leads analytic support for enterprise regulatory reporting and value-based performance programs, including CMS, Joint Commission, Leapfrog, NHSN, HEDIS, AHRQ, patient experience, and other federal, state, commercial, and accreditation reporting requirements.
- Coordinates enterprise reporting calendars, regulatory submission timelines, validation/audit activities, and reporting dependencies to ensure timely and accurate submission of required deliverables.
- Develops predictive analytics, scenario modeling, and performance forecasting that incorporate anticipated changes to regulatory and performance measurement programs to estimate organizational performance, reimbursement, incentive payments, penalties, and publicly reported ratings.
- Monitors regulatory updates and evolving measurement specifications, assesses organizational impact, and recommends reporting, analytic, and operational strategies to support organizational readiness.
- Synthesizes organizational performance trends, external benchmarks, and quality intelligence into strategic recommendations that support executive decision-making, organizational priorities, and long-term planning.
- Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Mathematics, Allied Health, Public Health, Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Data Analytics, or equivalent preferred.
- CPHQ, Lean Six Sigma, Epic, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, SQL, data analytics, healthcare quality, or related certification preferred.
- Five to eight years of related work experience required.
- Strong experience in data management, report writing, analytics, visualization, dashboard creation, and interpretation of large data sets required.
- Experience using multiple data sources, hospital systems, relational databases, business intelligence tools, or reporting applications required.
- Experience with quality, safety, regulatory, patient experience, population health, or performance improvement data preferred.
- Experience with predictive modeling, machine learning technologies, or advanced analytic methods preferred.
- Advanced proficiency with data analysis, reporting, and visualization tools such as SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Excel, Epic SlicerDicer, SAS, R, Python, or similar tools.
- Advanced technical computer skills as required for technical support specific to functional area and related systems.
- Ability to translate business needs and stakeholder questions into technical specifications, analytic plans, dashboards, reports, and actionable insights.
- Strong understanding of healthcare quality, safety, patient experience, regulatory, and performance measurement programs.
- Ability to validate data, troubleshoot discrepancies, and ensure accuracy and consistency of reporting.
- Ability to analyze complex data, identify meaningful trends, and communicate findings clearly to technical, clinical, operational, and executive audiences.
- Strong data storytelling skills, including the ability to display key results through effective visualizations and concise interpretation.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and complete analytic work in a timely and efficient manner.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to build effective working relationships across departments and disciplines.
- Commitment to health equity, transparency, continuous improvement, and using data to support organizational learning and better outcomes.
- Working knowledge of programming or query languages such as SQL, Python, R, or similar tools preferred.
- Experience with business intelligence tools for data visualization, dashboard development, and report automation, such as Power BI, Tableau, Epic reporting tools, or similar platforms preferred.
- Understanding of data management, data manipulation, and interpretation of large databases in a healthcare or medical center environment preferred.
