Clinical Coordinator-Nursing

OVERVIEW The Clinical Coordinator manages the clinical education component of the curriculum. BUSINESS CONTRIBUTION The Clinical Coordinator position plans, coordinates, facilitates, administers, and monitors activities on behalf of the academic program and in coordination with academic and clinical faculty. These activities ensure the quality of our students learning experience during clinical education. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Development and Assessment of Clinical Education Assist with the development and assessment of the clinical education component of the curriculum with the Program Director. Develop, monitor, and refine the clinical education component of the curriculum. Facilitate quality learning experiences for students during clinical education. Coordination and Implementation of Clinical Education Select clinical learning environments that demonstrate characteristics of an ethical and professional facility that incorporates the program's core values. Document and assess clinical education sites and clinical educators to determine suitability. Coordinate the ongoing development of the clinical facility database, maintaining clinical agreements and other appropriate clinical information. Ensure clinical agreements are current and that students are assigned only to facilities with properly executed and unexpired contracts. Communicate program curriculum, philosophy, objectives, evaluative criteria, policies, procedures, clinical dates, and other pertinent information to affiliate clinical sites. Serve as a liaison between students and clinical sites. Facilitating Students' Clinical Education Communicate and oversee communication with Center Coordinators of Clinical Education, Clinical Instructors, and students to monitor progress and assess students’ performance. Provide guidance and support as required to problem‑solve and discuss student issues. Meet with students prior to clinical affiliations to disseminate information on clinical policies and procedures, clinical site information, and clinical education philosophy. Assess students' performance during clinical rotations. Administer policies and procedures for immunization, preventative health practices, and the management of student injuries while at the clinical site. Prepare clinical rotation assignments. Teach clinical education courses and other related course content based on areas of clinical content. Ensuring Clinical Education Program Compliance Comply with site requirements. Ensure student physical and immunization forms are current and in compliance. Track and issue continuing education hours in accordance with state and local regulations. Ensure liability protection of students (and faculty if required) inclusive of professional, governmental, institutional, and risk management requirements. Qualifications Clinical Nursing – Full‑time position requires an MSN, a Florida RN license, and at least four years of work experience in the field. Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required. The role requires day and weekend availability. Education, Experience, and Training Must have the minimum degree required for the discipline and possess relevant credentials, licensures, and experience in the appropriate academic area. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Management – communicate and facilitate discussions among highly educated professionals across various disciplines. Planning – organize and prioritize needs and goals of campus‑level program faculty. Academic teaching in higher education. Career college teaching/management (program/department chair). Professional/executive education administration. Written communication – clear and informative writing, editing for spelling and grammar, presenting numerical data effectively. Oral communication – clear and persuasive speaking, listening, and group presentation skills. Time management – organize data, develop approaches, and manage time effectively. Problem solving – identify and resolve problems timely, analyze information, develop alternative solutions. Physical Demands The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee may be required to stand or sit for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment Professional office setting; controlled indoor climate; noise level usually moderate. Location This position is an onsite position located at the campus unless otherwise determined by the Chancellor and/or designee. Any changes must be reviewed by the Campus President/Vice President and all final approvals must come from the Chancellor and/or designee.
