About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Oncology Clinic Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum of 5 years of RN experience, with at least 3 years of oncology experience, preferably in Med/Surg oncology. License: California RN License Certifications: AHA BLS Must-Have: Ability to float to other facilities; Telephone triage nursing experience; 2 years of outpatient oncology experience; OCN certification preferred. Description: The Registered Nurse will be responsible for the administration of chemotherapy including continuous infusion, oral administration, and monitoring. The role includes the administration of blood and blood products, care and management of ports, and central line/implanted line care. The nurse will manage acute tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression. Other responsibilities include chest tube care and management, implementing neutropenic precautions, and addressing altered mental status, constipation/diarrhea, dysphagia, edema, nausea/vomiting, and neuropathy. Experience in inpatient oncology, outpatient oncology, and pediatric oncology is beneficial. Previous charge experience is preferred, along with familiarity with charting systems. The nurse may be assigned to different departments or units as needed during the contract period. Candidates must have previously traveled within the last 12 months and have prior teaching hospital experience preferred. All employment history with any university medical facility and acquired facilities must be included with submission.
