Maintenance Mechanic
We are seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Mechanic to perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on trailers and transportation equipment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on mechanical work, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring trailers remain safe and roadworthy. Travel to customer locations or service sites may be required.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair trailers, chassis, and transportation equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance on brakes, suspension systems, wheel assemblies, lighting systems, and trailer components
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and structural issues
- Replace damaged or worn parts including brake components, bearings, air lines, lights, mud flaps, and suspension parts
- Conduct trailer inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and company safety standards
- Perform welding, fabrication, and minor structural repairs as needed
- Use hand tools, power tools, air tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively
- Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation
- Assist with emergency repairs and service calls when required
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations
- Communicate with supervisors, drivers, and customers regarding repair status and maintenance needs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in trailer repair, fleet maintenance, diesel mechanics, or a related mechanical field preferred
- Knowledge of trailer brake systems, air systems, suspension systems, lighting, and DOT regulations
- Experience with welding, fabrication, and trailer structural repairs preferred
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic tools
- Ability to lift heavy components and work in shop and outdoor environments
- Valid driver's license preferred
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and preventative maintenance practices
