Playa Bowls is New Jersey's Original Acai Shop, founded in 2014, and our mission is to bring superfruit bowls to the masses using only the freshest, highest quality ingredients while providing a fantastic in-store brand experience. What began as a pair of blenders, a patio table, and a fridge has flourished into a 350+ unit operator and franchisor of the leading fast casual restaurant concept. Playa Bowls added 85 locations in 2025 and are on target to add 90+ new locations in 2026. Who You Are

You're a positive, enthusiastic, and people-focused individual with a passion for superfoods, healthy living, and (of course) fruit! As a Shift Leader at Playa Bowls, you serve as an extension of the management team and are trusted to oversee shop operations in the absence of a manager. You're confident in delegating tasks, leading by example, and making decisions that prioritize the needs of the shop and the team. What You'll Do

• Oversee food quality throughout your shift, ensuring freshness and discarding products when necessary
• Delegate tasks efficiently and responsibly to support smooth operations and team productivity
• Lead and manage all aspects of opening and closing shifts with consistency and attention to detail
• Handle and process customer refunds accurately and professionally
• Address and resolve guest concerns in a courteous, solution-oriented manner
• Monitor and record inventory levels throughout the shift, including end-of-day counts
• Accurately count and reconcile the register, safe, and daily deposits
• Maintain clear and timely communication with management regarding shift updates or operational issues
• Ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and aligned with company standards and procedures
• Act as a role model by embodying and promoting the Playa Bowls mission, purpose, and core values

• Ensuring adherence to food safety standards and operational protocols and monitoring team performance to ensure quality in product preparation and presentation

Requirements

• Availability to work a minimum of 5 shifts per week, totaling at least 30 hours.
• Must be available weekends but expected to work as the business dictates
• Must pass the required Playa Bowls Food Safety certification requirement within 3 months of employment

Essential Physical Functions

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time
• Must be able to lift or otherwise move 25-40 pounds occasionally
• Must be able to retrieve items from high and low shelving, the fridge/freezer, and under counters.
• Must be able to tolerate occasionally loud environments (high powered blenders, timers, and order notifications).
• Ability to frequently move about inside the establishment to access the Point-of-Sale cash register, assemble guest orders, clear tables, restock inventory, etc.
