Job Title: Phlebotomist II

Duration: 3 Months

Location: 954 Rt 146 Clifton Park, NY

Schedule: Mon-Fri 7:30am - 4:30pm every other Sat 7am - 12:30pm.

Required Vaccinations

• MMR, Varicella, TB, flu, and color vision test are required.

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Phlebotomist II to join their team. This role involves specimen collection, patient interaction, specimen processing, and ensuring compliance with laboratory protocols and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles.
• Collect, label, process, centrifuge, split, freeze, and package specimens according to laboratory procedures.
• Verify laboratory requisitions and ensure accurate specimen labeling.
• Properly explain specimen collection procedures to patients in a professional and courteous manner.
• Update patient information and maintain accurate documentation.
• Store specimens at the required temperature to maintain specimen integrity.
• Perform equipment maintenance, decontamination, and record maintenance logs.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, DEP, and laboratory safety regulations.
• Attend required annual departmental training.
• Respond to telephone inquiries and communicate laboratory results as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2-4 years of phlebotomy experience.
• Minimum 6 months of recent experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital environment.
• Valid Phlebotomy Certification where required by state regulations.
• Experience with specimen processing and laboratory procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent patient communication and customer service skills.
