Bus Driver (Full Time 6 hours per day)

Full Time Bus Driver Must be able to take weekend/evening field trips. 6 Hours per day route pay guarantee. Qualifies for Medical/Dental/Vision/Life. Step 0 = $22.53/hr.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be 21 years of age. Must have the physical capability of performing and perform a daily pre-trip inspection as mandated. Must be physically able to wear a seat belt. Be physically qualified as determined by an annual physical examination. Complete pre-service and in-service training, as per Rule 3301-83-10 of the Administrative Code. Hold a current commercial driver's license. Demonstrates the ability to cope with stressful situations as related to all students including students with disabilities. Possess or upgrade skills through formal and/or in-service training related to transportation of students including students with disabilities. Has a satisfactory work history and driving record. Must pass Pre-Employment drug screen and all job related drug and alcohol screens as required under Ohio law. REPORTS TO: Transportation Coordinator SUPERVISES: Children who are passengers on the bus he/she operates. POSITION GOAL: To provide safe and efficient transportation of students. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The total number of days school is in session during a school year is 178 plus 6 paid holidays. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Transportation Coordinator.

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA:

Cleans the bus and acquires necessary repairs and service as needed. Completes mandated pre-trip prior to driving bus each day. Is compliant with all Ohio laws, ODE and district policies. Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses. Keeps to assigned schedule and route. Directly supervises students on bus at all times. Maintains firm, fair and consistent discipline when students are on the bus. Enforces school bus regulations as outlined in handbook. Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority in writing. Picks up and discharges students only at authorized stops. Transports only authorized students. Completes and turns in route timing sheets and other reports/forms as required. Notifies the proper authorities in case of mechanical failure or delay in arrival. Reports all accidents and completes required accident reports within 24 hours. Attends all safety workshops and meetings as required by district administration. Uses the bus radio in a professional manner. Maintains mature and proper behavior while on duty and on school property. Must carry CDL at all times when on duty. Follows Ohio law and district policy in regard to use of cell phones.

Communicates all legitimate concerns directly to the Transportation Coordinator. Cooperates with the Transportation Coordinator and drivers. Uses discretion in school and job related matters. Is diplomatic when dealing with parents. Maintains a good rapport with the students.

4. SCHOOL-COMMUNITY RELATIONS:

At all times, communicates a positive image of the school district.

5. OTHER:
