About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Telemetry Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in acute care License: Current RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Traveler must pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival. Experience in wound management, JP drains, wound vacs, hemodialysis catheter care, fistulas, PCA, pain management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation is required. Description: This position focuses heavily on urology post-operative patients. The types of surgeries include robotic radical and simple prostatectomies, partial cystectomies, partial nephrectomies, open radical nephrectomies, and nephroureterectomies. Educational opportunities are available for travelers in this area. Additional patient care may involve medical/surgical overflow patients presenting with conditions such as sepsis, cellulitis, DVT/PE, CHF, COPD, and COVID. Post-operative overflow may include total joint surgeries and GI/abdominal surgeries like hemicolectomies and bowel resections. The typical patient ratio is RN: 1:5-6 during the day and 1:6 at night. The unit has three CNAs per shift, with a potential patient ratio of up to 1:10 at full capacity. Support on the unit includes a typically free-floating charge nurse and in-house phlebotomy services. RNs are responsible for drawing CVL/PICC/Midline and can access an IV/VAT team for PICC placements during designated hours. Charting is performed using an EMR system, and medication dispensing is done through Pyxis. Travelers may float to any medical/surgical area within the facility. Weekend rotation is mandatory, with every other weekend required. Staff will work four days one week and three the next, with a limit on requested time off. Two out of three holidays are expected to be worked. Scrubs must be pewter, while t-shirts must be gray, white, or black with a monogram, and jackets should be gray or black. Badges must be visible above the waist at all times.
