LOWER ELWHA KLALLAM TRIBE Staff Accountant OVERVIEW: Under the general supervision of the CFO, the Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the CFO and Grants Administrator for the day-to-day accounting and finance requirements in accordance with the funding agreements, requirements and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). LOCATION: Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe - Finance Department SUPERVISED BY: CFO POSITION STATUS: Full-time w/benefits - HOURLY SALARY LEVEL: (Pay range: $32/hour up to $38/hour- DOE) WORK SCHEDULE: 8 to 4:30, 40 hours per week, with half hour lunch ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB: This position will maintain and process financial transactions within the accounting software: Manages day-to-day accounts receivable activities including recordation of collections and preparation of invoices. Assists Tax Officer with tax reporting compliance and collections. Maintains accurate and complete financial records and files. Prepares credit card reconciliations, fuel card, and travel related transactions. Prepares check requests for replenishments of credit card program accounts. Prepares Accounting data uploads in Accufund system and Quickbooks. Monitors office expenses and enters cash receipts. Prepares and sends customer invoices and statements. Assists with Special check disbursement runs when needed. Assists with intercompany account reconciliations. Assists in entering and maintaining customers’ data in accounting system. Assists in assets inventory title management. Other duties as assigned including audit support for external audit and granting agencies’ reviews. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY: Ability to understand Lower Elwha Kallam Tribe’s Procurement Policies and Procedures, Accounting Manual, HR Handbook and Funding Sources’ compliance requirements. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to work well with others. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree in Accounting or University or college program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivables, general ledger and journal entries. Bachelor of Accountancy is preferred. Must understand the basics of Business, Accounting, and Human Relations Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to meet deadlines. Must possess a Valid Washington Driver's License and be insurable through the Tribe. Must pass pre-employment drug screen and Background check.
