Dietary Cook

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks meals for residents and staff following the menu created by dieticians.
• Gathers all food needed for mealtime and reports any shortages to the Food Service Director.
• Plates all food items for residents and staff.
• Operates various kitchen equipment (mixer, meat slicer, oven, steamer, etc.) in preparation for the meal.
• Serves meals safely and follows all requirements.
• Directs activities of one or more workers who assist in preparing and serving meals.
• Accurately follows diet cards when serving residents.
• Takes and documents food temperatures.
• Cleans kitchen and all kitchen equipment.
• Assists in putting away dietary stock and rotating dietary supplies.
• Keeps all coolers clean and organized, checking expiration dates.
• Follows portion control guidelines.
• Maintains confidentiality of all resident, staff, and organization information.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience. One to three months of related experience and/or training may also qualify.
• Previous cook experience required.
