Your Opportunity with ECG: Senior Associate Through Senior Consultant

As a senior associate, consultant, or senior consultant at ECG, you’ll be an important part of our consulting team, working alongside the top professionals in the industry to develop solutions that shape healthcare. You will join ECG as a member of our Healthcare Consulting Pool and gain diverse experience across ECG’s four divisions : Health System Performance, Medical Group Optimization, Payer Strategy & Contracting, and Strategy & Enterprise Growth.

 

This structure supports continuous learning and the development of both depth and breadth in healthcare consulting. Across these levels, you will conduct and translate analyses, apply structured problem-solving, develop client-ready deliverables, and contribute to effective project delivery. The complexity of assignments, degree of independence, client responsibility, project leadership, and responsibility for helping junior team members in their development increase with the level.

 

Your Responsibilities May Include

Analytical and Strategic Excellence

• Collect, clean, integrate, organize, and validate data from clients and established sources.
• Conduct intermediate through advanced analyses, financial modeling, operational assessments, and scenario evaluations with increasing autonomy.
• Develop and enhance analytical models, tools, dashboards, visualizations, and summaries that communicate key insights clearly.
• Translate analytical outputs into clear, compelling insights that support evidence-based strategic recommendations.

Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking

• Define or refine problem statements, key drivers, analytical questions, and approaches.
• Apply appropriate analytical methods, evaluate alternatives, and identify assumptions, risks, contingencies, and implications.
• Conduct stakeholder interviews and lead or support information-gathering efforts.
• Contribute to root-cause analyses and shape logical recommendations aligned with client objectives.

Project Management and Work Stream Leadership

• Manage assigned project components or work streams, including work plans, schedules, progress, risks, dependencies, budgets, deadlines, and deliverable quality.
• Coordinate proactively with project managers and team members to resolve resource, scheduling, analytical, or other challenges.
• Communicate progress, questions, and risks early and in a structured manner.
• At the consultant and senior consultant levels, independently own work streams; at the senior consultant level, lead major portions of projects and provide oversight for multiple team members.

Communication, Deliverables, and Client Interaction

• Develop clear, well-structured Microsoft PowerPoint decks, Microsoft Excel models and analyses, and written deliverables.
• Translate complex information and analytical results into concise, compelling narratives tailored to technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Present analyses and findings in internal and client settings and communicate effectively with management and executive-level client staff.
• Assist with the design and implementation of recommended solutions and take responsibility for project outcomes.

Industry, Client, and Business Development

• Research healthcare trends, payer dynamics, regulatory changes, market dynamics, and competitive landscapes.
• Connect analytical work to client context, broader project objectives, ECG methodologies, and market implications.
• Develop technical expertise, learn about ECG’s breadth of solutions, and identify areas that reflect personal and professional interests.
• At more senior levels, identify follow-on opportunities, support scoping efforts, contribute to client relationship development, and serve as an ECG ambassador within professional and alumni networks.

Team Contribution, Leadership, and Advising Junior Team Members

• Contribute to an inclusive, positive, and collaborative team environment.
• Seek, provide, and act on feedback; demonstrate curiosity, self-awareness, and a growth-oriented mindset.
• Share knowledge and provide guidance, coaching, or informal mentorship based on project needs and level of experience.
• At the consultant and senior consultant levels, guide associates and senior associates; at the senior consultant level, provide structured mentoring and oversee the quality of junior team members’ work.

 

Qualifications

We consider candidates across the senior associate, consultant, and senior consultant levels. Placement is based on education, relevant experience, demonstrated capabilities, and readiness to assume the scope of responsibility associated with a particular level.

 

Qualifications Across All Levels

• Master’s degree in business or a health-related field
• Knowledge of and interest in healthcare, with demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, client-service, and communication skills
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint and the ability to learn new analytical tools quickly
• Professionalism, sound judgment, attention to detail, follow-through, and ability to manage multiple priorities independently and collaboratively
• Ability to work in a hybrid consulting environment and travel at least 60% of the time

 

Experience and Competency Expectations by Level

Expectations are cumulative, with greater complexity, independence, client responsibility, leadership, and influence at each level.

 

Senior Associate

Experience: Typically, 2 years of relevant professional experience

Role Expectations: Owns assigned analyses and routine deliverables with increasing independence, performs basic to intermediate analyses and modeling, manages project components, communicates findings, contributes during client meetings, and may provide informal guidance to associates

 

Consultant

Experience: Typically, 2+ years of relevant experience, with additional experience generally expected without an advanced degree

Role Expectations: Independently manages analytical work streams, risks, dependencies, and deliverables; conducts intermediate analyses and scenario evaluation; develops and presents client-ready recommendations; and provides feedback and informal mentorship to junior colleagues

 

Senior Consultant

Experience: Typically, 3+ years of healthcare consulting, operations, or analytics experience

Role Expectations: Leads complex analytical and strategic work, major project components, and multiple work streams; shapes recommendations; presents to client executives; serves as a primary contact for assigned areas; oversees work quality; and provides structured mentoring and coaching

 

Job Locations

• Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, San Diego, or Washington, DC
• Hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of two days per week in the office when not traveling for a client engagement

The estimated base salary range for this job is $90000.00 - $155900.00 annually. It represents a good faith estimate of the range that ECG reasonably expects to pay at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to years of experience, special skills, and market changes. This job is eligible to participate in ECG’s annual incentive compensation program, which reflects ECG’s pay-for-performance philosophy. The job is also eligible to participate in ECG’s benefit plans, which include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) matching program, unlimited PTO, and other wellness programs.
